Arena 1997 2.5 Lost keys - voxhumana
Help! My son has lost the micro-chipped key to his van, Vauxhall Arena 1997 2.5. Apparently (we understand..!?) the only way it can be programmed is if a garage (or someone) out there has a Tech One System for downloading the info onto the chip. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone can help or offer a suggestion (other than dumping the Van!?!). I'm saddled with the darned problem as my lad's gone white-water rafting in British Columbia - and left me with it! Not only that but the great thing is taking up the whole driveway in his mum's (my ex's!) house, so I'm getting the aggro! (PS: I know it's not a car fellas but I'm sure that can be arranged with some reductionist therapy!) {snip - I'm sure you didn't really mean to post your phone number for the world to see?}

Thanks, David davidwoollacott 'at' tiscali.co.uk

Do you have the pin security code for the ECU It should have come on a card with the radio code? You need that first, you can get it from Vauxhall if you pay and show your V5 and ID.

When you have the code, someone with TECH 2 can deactivate the immobiliser so that you no longer have that feature. Or I think that the dealer can order a new key if you have the V5 and ID, but I can't remember if its just the key or the remote too.

Problem is... its the OP's sons vehicle....the V5 will be in the sons name, and the key shouldnt get released to anyone other than the registered keeper.......

The Dealer will send a pick up truck to recover the car. Then they will order the key.Then it will be Tech.2ed to the car. The dealers love lost keys. This will run into Hundreds of Pounds-Sorry but I know this for a fact!

You may be better off at a Renault dealer as this vehicle is a rebadged Traffic.Are you sure it has a chipped key ?It may be a border-line case of yes or no.hth
