Can anyone help............... vehicle has 53,000 on the clock and when stopped in traffic or at traffic lights the car misfires and the ECU light comes on. If you turn the car off and back on this stops the misfire until the next red light. Fault code indicates coil pack/injector issues. Always shows fault on number 4. Have moved then all around but still fault always shows on 4
So far have.......

Replaced coil packs 4 times
New set of spark plugs
Wiring checked
No oil around ECU unit
Head removed all injectors cleaned and functioning correctly
Found low compression........... cracked exhaust valve.... replaced... but still misfires
MAF sensor replaced
Oil changed twice

Has anyone out there cured their misfire . Any advice would be a great help Read more

>>Fault code indicates coil pack/injector issues

That doesn't sound right.

Was the cracked valve in No 4?

As soon as the car does this again, get the comressions checked. Some garages have equipment to allow the compressions to be checked via measurements of the battery current while cranking - making testing for compressions very quick, requiring no dismantling.

Actually, I went to Benzs main dealer today required a tax free car sale for exporting to hong kong, they said that they do not do it without any reason. In addition, the purchased of the new car will be exporting directly to HK without registering a UK owner.

I do not know why they do not allow me to pay the car price without vat even if i meet the following regulation. Could someone tell me where can i get a brand new car with tax free ?

In the HM custom rule, it said

The Personal Export Scheme (PES) allows entitled customers to purchase a motor
vehicle in the UK free of VAT for export outside the European Community. Subject to
some restrictions the vehicle may also be used for a limited period in the EC before
being finally exported to a destination outside the EC.

You can use the Scheme if you are:

(a) an Overseas visitor. This means that you have not been in the EC for more
than either:
? 365 days in the two years before the date when you apply to use the Scheme; or
? 1095 days in the six years before the date when you apply to use the Scheme;
and
? you intend to leave and remain outside the EC with the motor vehicle for a period
of at least six months; and
? you comply with all the other conditions of the Scheme.

(b) an Entitled EC resident. This means that you have been in the EC for more
than:
? 365 days in the two years before the date when you apply to use the Scheme; or
? 1095 days in the six years before the date when you apply to use the Scheme;
and
? you intend to leave and remain outside the EC with the motor vehicle for a period
of at least six months; and
? you comply with all the other conditions of the Scheme. Read more

This should be put into context - UK suppliers generally are reluctant to get involved in exporting. Given there are a minmum of 6 million British ex-pats you would think that there was a ready-made market, however, the vast majority of on-line suppliers seem to have a UK only policy. Living in Spain, I usually find it's easy to deal with continental Europe countries, the US, or Hong Kong. Given the past "nation of shopkeepers" tag, it's seems extraordinary.

Hi folks,

I know this forum is for cars but I'm trying to get an honest opinion on the Renault trafic van. My plan is to convert one into a people carrier. I need a big boot where I can use the top half as a boot and the bottom half for my 3 dogs. This is the best solution I can come up with without getting a dog trailer. Anyone got any other idea's? Does anyone know what the fuel economy, reliability is like? Any advice would be really grateful

You need to look for a Trafic Crew Van. Similar to the MB and VW options, 2nd row of seats with window in sliding door, with rear space with no windows. Brand new there are a number of different models available.

All the lamp posts on the above ground section of the A40 from White City past Paddington have been chopped of at about 5/6 feet above their bases.
This must have happened at least 2/3 years ago.
I guess it was elf n safety but can anyone supply details and when will this section again be lit?

It's amazing, they made their decision purely to appease those that overlook the Westway. And of course, to save money into the bargain.Who consulted the users of that road. I bet the M4 at Chiswick will be next then.

Went to York the other day and my usual route for last 3-4 years has been up A1 and join new A1(M) and on to A64. On my way up I decided to have a look at what was the A162 (Old A1) as I cant remember the life of me how it went. All I remember is that you passed over the M62 (power station on left and services on right) then go past A645 and Ferrybridge slips and pass a Forte Posthouse services a few miles up. Anyway as I said I had a look but was surprised. After A162 peels off and you swing left slightly the dual carriageway just ends (turns in to a B road) and little roundabouts start then it just goes residential. Just went up a few roundabouts and turned round. Where did the road go? or has it been demolished. All I remember was dual carriageway to to Aberford (M1 A1 interchange). Have I been dreaming, it was only 5 years ago since I last went up that road? Read more

Saw a local hospital patient transport vehicle this morning. I think it was a Fiat Dobio. It was very nicely (and I assume expensively) decal'd "Patience Transport". It made me laugh because the same day I saw a local tyre/exhaust service in Newbury Park with a nice glossy sign in large letters "Breaks, Exhausts, Tyres"

Anyone else seen any other howlers on vehicles?

What's a Dobio?

I searched Google for it at the time and it appeared that a great number of people thought it was Dobio too, even the motoring press. Anyway, Dobio sounds more Italian/Italien, especially if you emphasise the Do as in DO(pause)bio.

Hi

Does anyone out there know where I can get OE Toyota parts without having to stump up at a main dealers for, as they want £70 for front pads and rear shoes for a 1.0 Yaris, which I think is expensive, or am I out of touch ?

Thanks Read more

Toyota dealers will negotiate on parts prices as they often offer special discounts..

At least Pinkstones in Stoke on Trent will. Parts department are very helpful. Phone up your lcoal dealer and ask .

Having said that, there are lots of suppliers on ebay.. I bought new discs and pads there: excellent quality.. And drop link bushes..

Just a qiuck question this time. I have taken off the small breather hose to check it from the top of the rocker cover. It is the one that also goes to the throttle body. The hose its self is clear and i can blow through it. When it is connected to the throttle body and the engine is running there is no suction on it at the rocker end, even under high revs. I have tried to blow though it but it seems to be blocked. Just wondered if it was ment to be like that, or if it has a blockage some where. thanks for any replies,
cheers. Read more

thanks. i have just found out from vauxhall that there is only vacuum when the car is actually running on the road. They also are suspecting a blocked Kat. there is pressure at the exhaust when idling but it dissapears when the car is reved. does this sound right.

Went to buy a captiva at local big dealership. Nice man showed me the car, and I notice a new unreg same for not much more money. By this time the flexy friend is almost jumping out my wallet. Enquire for discount as no trade in, "sorry sir the cars are priced to sell the amount on the screen is the amount." So I point out with no trade in he dosent have to, valet it move it through trade/market etc, point out economic downturn etc, suit claims there sales are incredibly buoyant, and uplast month. Didn't waste any more time and left, lost an easy sale. If I hear any more sob stories about how bad the trade is doing, I will scream, especially as they are still trying to fleece customers. Having read about a terrible crash in northern Spain only yesterday, I would suggest the relevant authorities set up a child seat franchise at each and every ferry port and force drivers of cars without seats for their children to buy and install proper seats, whatever the cost and however long it takes to install them. They would do a roaring trade as the safety message still doesn't seem to have penetrated some thick heads. Driver can't pay? Tough, lock them up, impound the car, whatever. Every car leaving the port can be checked for seats and belts, a moment's work.
bit.ly/2w5DsSu Background: a family of 6 in a Peugeot 607 left the Morroco - Spain ferry terminal in southern Spain, heading for France. Car stopped only once in Madrid (half way through a 650 mile journey). At 7.45 am on a winding stretch of a single carriage section of highway with a 50 km/h limit, massive warning signs, crash barriers and speed cameras, the driver, according to his own testimony, dozed off at the wheel and crashed head on into a tanker lorry in the opposite carriageway. Three children aged 3, 5 and 7 and their mother and grandmother were killed outright but he survived. According to police, none of the (six) passengers had seat belts on and none of the children were in child seats.
