We've all done it at some point. Taken a wrong turn and then turned around in a private driveway or cul-de-sac and then spooted a sign stating 'Strictly no turning or parking'.
Is this enforceable by the owner of the land or residents of a mews?
Am I technically trespassing by driving onto the land and what could be the possible outcome taken by the owner?
If I've driven down a road in error, how am I supposed to remove my vehicle if I can't turn round. Lift it out by crane?
Are these signs a wastle of time and why do people get so het up by the odd car which happens to turn round in their driveway or road once in a blue moon?
just curious

Hi,
My 2001 Accord hatchback has started getting a lot of condensation on the rear window and in the cold weather I end up having to scrape ice off both sides of the rear window.
Any ideas on things I can check for?
Don't know if it's relevant but the AC doesn't seem to be working too well, could it be a factor?
Cheers,

Who mentioned recirculation? I said that aircon does not work below about 5C.
Hi
The engine misfires when cold, i.e. first thing in the morning and when driving away at night. The fault will clear within 20 seconds or so.
There are no fault codes, and according to live data the fuel delivery rate increases as it misses (basically I think the ECU is trying to compensate). When hot it's fine.
P.S. could this have anything to do with the rev holding/rising to 1500rpm problem?
Thanks. Read more
Hi
I don't come on this forum much now so didn't read reply, though to anyone reading this the problem was found to be linked to a dodgy fuel injection ECU which subsequently died a few days after I opened the read....
Hi
I have a Toyota Carina E 2.0 litre and the car is losing coolant at a rate of about 1/4 litre per 100 miles which is a lot.
Can anyone suggest why my car is losing so much coolant. The car has already been pressure checked but no leaks were found.
Thanks
Gregory

The car is still loosing coolant. But a general question: is it better to check the engine when it is cold or warm, or does it not matter?
Thanks
Gregory
I sent Mitsubishi this question:
"The manual says use "DIA Queen ATF SP3".
I can't find any of this, is there a Dexron or other equivalent please?"
Their answer was:
"Unfortunately there is no equivalent, Only DIA Queen ATF SP3 can be used".
I expectd this answer, is it true? The dealer says they use "Texamatic 75/45", I can but 7.8 litres for £59.21(!) and I've to take my own can to fill.
Can't find anything relevant on the net except that the Texamatic's £18/litre.
Thanks in advance.

Ive seen the advert, now looked at the pictures online and I have to say, what a stunning looking car.
When I watched the advert for the first time on TV, I said to the misses thats a lovely looking car, not knowing it was a Megane. I think they have certainly cracked the style bit, all important with coupes.
I think the 1.6 petrol is going to be a bit of a bargin once discounts start up. Read more
Haven't seen a Megane Coupe yet, but have seen a Laguna coupe. Very nice. The new Scirocco (seen a few now) by comparison has a bit of the squashed toad about it.
Am I the only person who uses a tapered slip lane (on the exit leg) when turning left at a T-junction or crossroad? Everyone I've followed has turned left as if the slip lane didn't exist. Read more
What's a tapered slip lane?
I apologised yesterday for using the word "slip" and agreed that I should have said tapered "acceleration" lane. It's a lane which tapers from being a full car's width at the beginning to nothing at the end.

Like most people, I would probably try to help without thought (it seems a lot of people who dive into water to save others can't swim themselves).
In France, it is an offence not to help "persons in danger". But in Switzerland I was once unable to reach some crash victims in very fast motorway traffic and, mentioning the incident to a local man the following day, I was told never to intervene, for fear of getting sued if I worsened the victims' condition, and that only qualified emergency service personnel could rescue with legal impunity. (He turned out to be a doctor.) This no doubt explains why many other cars negotiated the wreckage at full speed and sped on.
In the Arcadia that is Manchester, every set off traffic lights has a green painted box extending across to the road centre line with a picture of a pushbike in it. I have seen them elsewhere. What has never been explained to me, as an occasional cyclist, is what they are for . I saw them referred to in the paper once as 'cyclist early starter box' but I have never seen one sitting down to a Little Chef breakfast in one. In fact, I can't really recollect seeing a cyclist in one anyway. They usually don't bother with the lights at all. Seems like a waste of green and white paint to me .

Why not?
Hi there, just recently bought a 2001 clio 1.2 16V, got it cheapish as it had immobiliser fault, anyway thought i was clever and managed to get a company to send me a ECU which has been demobilised to solve the problem, anyway starts alright now, but lots of weird things have been going on, i wonder whether they are connected to the new ECU or whether they were there already?
1) Juddering when you release accelerator? especially low speeds
2) when you turn engine off after a journey a weird ticking noise starts up, it sounds like its coming from the engine bay near O/S headlight??? (very odd)
3) rev counter does not work on dash
4) temp gauge does not work on dash
5) rear heated screen does not work
6) this model has a onboard computer which half the features do not work, like how many miles left until you need to refuel?
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated? Read more

From another point of view:-
Our property is on a corner with a largeish parking area on the front with two accesses. Unless we block the accesses off somehow we have had people driving through as it is easier for them to turn around by doing that.
We don't have any signs, it is obviously a private house, but one person who thought it was her right to park on the front got blocked in by our cars. She was quite upset when she couldn't get her car out and we wouldn't move our cars until we were good and ready some time later. I enjoyed that!
We often get people reversing into an access to turn around but that doesn't worry us as it does no harm.
