What an utterly stupid idea. It's a market economy and people aren't buying cars as often. I run a small business and we are feeling it. When do I get my bail-out?
If you want to protect jobs in the motor industry, take VAT off car repairs and servicing and say make MOTs free. That way you are helping the sector, you're incentivising safety and helping the environment by keeping existing cars in decent nick - all of which are key Government targets.

Hi, another espace question for the day, where is the gearbox oil filling plug located? ive managed to find the drain plug but can't locate the filler plug, i assume it'll be the same plug as for checking the level but couldn't see where it was after a semi quick look.

Hi
I am having a problem with my boot alarm latch, when I am driving I get the door open light on the dash coming on/off. And recently my alarm system goes off when there is no one around. I know the latch is a bit dicky as when I open the boot and slam it closed the door open light goes off. Is there any way of checking the latch before I have to splash out on a new one.

check that the catch on the car (not the one on the boot) has not slipped down or become loose. if the boot is not closing properly then the lights will come on and of as you drive because of the movment. If that is ok check and clean the connectors between the boot and the car. also if the alarm is going off check that the boot is properly closed. any movment caused by the wind may be enough to trigger the alarm
I'm about to change the coolant temp' sensor on my golf engine code BFQ. i've tried removing the electrical connector (4 pin) without any joy so far. Do i need a special tool to get this connector to dis engage from the sensor. There are lots of electrical connectors on the car all of them seem to have a different way of locking together is there a web site or publication that might enlighten me on the mysteries of unlocking VW electrical connectors. Thanks Doc.
I am considering test driving a 2008 (58) Subaru Impreza III 1.5 R Auto, which I have spotted at a local Subaru main dealer. I wish to be as pre-armed as I can be before I get to the dealer, so does anyone have any experience of this model, and specifically the Auto gearbox in non-performance Imprezas? Is it a traditonal auto or does it have a semi-manual/tiptronic type of function?
Any other notes or comments on the model would be appreciated, HJ does not appear to have test driven one. Competitive publications seem to be a bit down on the model, with reference to performance and running costs, so any real world experience would be handy.

I never found our Forester auto hunting for gears and that was a 4-speed. Hunting is less likely the fewer gears you have I would say.
Our Sirion auto is 4-speed and it slips into 4th at about 28mph on the flat and tends to pick a gear and stick to it rather than always be looking to change up.
I guess its to do with the way its programmed.
My ABS warning light is on on the dash display. This did only come on intermittently but typically when it came to MOT time it is on all the time.
The garage have hooked it up to the diagnostic machine and it's not showing as having any faults with the ABS but they won't pass it with the light on even though they can't find a fault.
Any ideas greatly appreciated! Read more
Well, I would do quick checks like fuse/power/earth to the controller just to make sure that it is getting power, if that all checks out pop along to a bmw specialist and get them to check.
my ford mondeo as suddenly started to give out blue some first thing or on first start of the day and sound like a tractor.
it has ony covered 83000 but only has part service history but i have had it serviced twice since i have had it (6monthly) it has already had a new turbo 2 months ago so can not see that as a issue.

The brake wear sensor light came on, I changed the front pads, the sensor light stayed on. I disconnected the sensor cable, the light stayed. on it's on all the time. There are no sensors on the rear shoes.Help please. Read more
Sounds like the cable is broke somewhere, the systems usually work by breaking the circuit when the pads are worn. Don't know about the Polo, but on my lovely green Vectra the wear sensor is separate to the pads, and needs changing when the pads are changed, assuming it has actually worn through. So either you need to change the wear sensor(s) or you have a break in the cable.
as above really, where abouts is the pollen filter located on a 2000 plate 2.2 turbo diesel espace?

Hi,
I have just bought some wheel arches from ebay for this model to replace my old grey ones. How easy is it to replace these wheel arches - does anybody know?
Thanks Read more
they are held in place with 10mm headed plastic nuts which also hold the linner in place easy to change but you are likely to get grubby because the reccess fill up with road dirt

Yes but Jaguar have only two models in their range sub 150 (just) and Land Rover only 2 sub 200 (just) so they would not be giving up 3x£35.
