I'm looking for somewhere to take my 14 year old for a bit of father & son bonding on Easter Sunday. Are there any events that you can recommend within an hours drive of Tiverton?

Hi all,
Following house move, we've invested in a 1992 Volvo 940S auto estate. Came with 12 months MOT, 5 months tax for £675 (trade in at a dealer in Kent)! Decent condition, too (one or two minor dings, nothing major). So far, I love the easy drive and relaxing road manners (just kind of rolls along there), as well as the huge capacity (TWO fridge freezers to the tip in the back). SWBO loves the heated seats (good for her back, apperently). To the point. It's done 148k, cambelt changed at 112k (according to the sticker on the cover). The Manual suggests 50k between changes, but should I be more conservative? The other drive belts look a little frayed, although I probably wouldn't have worried except that some spares were in the car when I bought it! Easy to change, or easier at the dealer?
TIA,
Best to all,
Alex.

Good luck Alex - we bought one when we moved to France, it was clean as a whistle, had about 160k on it and all we did was service it before handing it on to my son 10k later. He then put another 10k on it before selling it at a profit!
Yes, it's a bit of a barge but I too got used to the way it handled and actually became quite fond of it, not least because it would carry sawn-up tree trunks 2 metres long.
And, I have to say, until owning the 940 I used to laugh at the idea of heated seats. Not any more...
i recently had to charge the battery up on my motor cause swmbo left the side lights on all night , whilst on charge i decided to clean it up and top up the electrolyte , whilst doing so it revealed the manufacture date on the casing 1990 , and i thought they only lasted 3 or 4 years can any one beat that? Indeed, trickle charging a dead battery will do it the world of good, i'd recommend about 200mA maximum until full. Especially when re-charging a battery which has been sat idle for some time.
I see the new car market was up 3.1% in March, with superminis up 6.6%.
The New new MINI sales are up by only 2.4%, which must be a bit of a disappointment for BMW now that the new model is fully on stream and production capacity has been increased.
But the gold medal goes to Dodge whose sales are up a massive 28,200% (they sold 566 cars). Read more

According to this tinyurl.com/yv3rnv they sold 2566 Calibers outside North America in January 2007, so I think there might just be an error in your calculations.

I have a 1.8 2006 Veauxhall Vectra Design which I feel is a nice car!!
I'm having a problem though when I change gear. When I depress the clutch the revs go up (slightly) and stay high for what seems 1 or 2 seconds too long before the revs then dip.
Any tips or suggestions on what could be a cause?

What if you back off the accelerator more gently before you depress the clutch, or release the accelerator completely and then depress the clutch?
Maybe the system is just slow to respond to you releasing the accelerator.
If you think its a fault try a few other cars with the same engine to see if they exibit the same feature, then you'd know if yours has a fault of if its normal.
Hi, took a mates family to see him in hospital yesterday, using their 2001 Pug 806 HDi. Half-way through the journey there I noticed a loud ticking noise from the engine bay, the type of sound a damaged tappet makes, although on investigation the noise seems to be coming from the power Steering pump, not the engine, and the steering feels slightly stiffer than usual, fluid level seemed ok. The noise is sometimes very loud and at other times almost inaudible........anyone have any ideas what could be wrong pls? Am due to do another 200 mile round trip tomorrow but am weary of taking it so far!!! Thx

Thx, this one is a mates, has 71,000 on clock, already had complete new rear suspension and top half of engine + turbo rebuilt by Peugeot!!!! Cheers
having had to give instructions over the telephone to SWMBO last week to a place that she has been to dozens of times and is 20 miles from home (she only went about 30 miles out of her way!!!), I think that I have convinced her that a SatNav unit might be a good idea, as she will refuse to pull over and to read a map. I think that that might be because she would find it nigh on impossible to find out where she is. As it would not get the most usage in the world I was wondering what peoples thoughts might be on which unit to get.
It needs to be smallish and very easy to use. TomTom1 is a choice but not the cheapest. However I do want something that works properly so if the cheapest is rubbish then I am happy to spend a little more.

Good luck with the F20. I'm quite impressed with my N20 - very simple indeed!
