My Scenic PCP is due up beginning of July. Can pay £5500 to keep the car which I believe has a Glass's trade in price of about £6500.

This is my third Scenic and I don't want to buy a fourth as there is not anything really different about the latest Scenic. Have looked at other mpvs and I don't really see anything that is better than my Scenic.

However, I do like the CR-V, and although finances won't stretch to the new model, at a push I could maybe afford an old shape one. But it would need to be a diesel.

So my choices really boil down to keeping the Scenic or going for a CR-V if I can afford it. (I want to keep the mpv / high seating position).
I am a bit wary of keeping the Scenic as it will be out of warranty and with all the electric gizmos it has as well as the EGR problems it can have (mine has been used for a lot of stop/start journeys which has potential for trouble)

Any CR-V owners out there with any feedback / thoughts on the matter? Anyone else who has tested similar vehicles have any input? Read more

Ran a 2004 CR-V and it was DIRE! We had originally planned to keep it for 5 years but sold it after 18 months out of frustration.

Numerous breakdowns, lots of electrical problems, dealers were dishonest (chardged for work not carried out & parts not fitted). Honda UK warranty were very poor (trying to wriggle out of claims for no reason)

Also remember reading a thread on here about someone who had total engine failure on a CR-V at something like 3 years old?

Personally I'd rather own a Renault than a Honda (and thats saying something!!)

Hi,
Have a 2001 Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec with 95000 miles on clock. Apart from fuel costs it has cost me pennies to run so am reluctant to part with it. During the last couple of months the driver?s electrically operated window has gotten slower and slower until it finally stopped working today. Managed to slide it up ok by hand but it will need fixed.

Is this an easy repair job as I live quite near a large vehicle dismantler and quite proficient with basic tools? I am reluctant to let my local Ford dealer get his hands on it.

Thanks.

For those who want to use the A3 to the Portsmouth area. ( summer holidays / ferries)
There will be greater delays en route due to BIG roadworks.

The new road will be 6.5km (4miles) long and includes 1.8km (1.1miles) twin bored tunnels under the Devil?s Punch Bowl Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Work is well "underway" and things are slower even off peak.

www.gnn.gov.uk/Content/Detail.asp?ReleaseID=277409...2

"At peak times traffic will take an additional five minutes to drive through the work in the interests of safety."

Due to open Summer 2010 so a long job and I guess lots of disruption.

Lots od detail here

I foresee a lot of frayed tempers at the new traffic-calming
gates at Selborne not to mention a more miserable few years
for the local inhabitants of this beautiful area. Still can't make
an omelette without breaking wind and all that.

I can't say I sympathise with the Selborne residents on this occasion, as we suffered the brunt in our village of their success in getting a HGV weight limit imposed, thus making our village the mandatory alternate route for a lot of HGV-1's we wouldn't otherwise have got !

I can get rid of the creak with a liberal spray of WD 40 but it comes back within a week or so.

Can someone please tell me what it is that may be actually creaking please. I lay under the car today and can hear it but can't actually isolate it. There only seems to be so much that actually moves when you bounce the car up and down but I still can't work out what it is! Read more

Squirted some Halford's spray grease on it and it's shut up for now.

Hi, screwloose,
sorry about the long delay. So do you think the cross-shaft is faulty because it looks ok but the pedal seems to return to ok as well.

Hello,

I hope someone can offer some advice here....

Can anyone tell me how to replace the actual rubber in a bosch aerotwin wiper blade. I own a peugeot 307 and a whole new set of front replacement blades is going to cost me 50 quid, although I've seen some replacement rubbers for a fraction of that cost, although I'm not sure how to take the old rubbers out. My daughters insurance is due, as she had an accident last year which has cost her the no claims bonus she is looking at other companies on line. The stumbling block for a quote is the question being asked -how much did the repairs cost and any injury claims? She knows how much her own vehicle cost but is the insurance company going to release such details of the other party? I quess I can only aske the question but till tommorow when we can phone has anyone else experianced this situation?

She was using confused.com which asked the above qustion she put in the max figure allowed as she did not know the correct figure and still cut the original quote by 2/3.

Long time since I've been under a car - but needs must.

Anyone have any idea how easy it is to adjust the handbrake cable on a 2001 Shuma Manual? Logic says it should be quite straightforward but if I'm going to get under the car and then discover I'm out of my depth then I won't even bother getting the jack out of its box!

BTW - to give you an idea of my skill level - the last car I looked under the bonet at for anything other than oil & water was a Maestro, 10 years ago

TIA

I don't think it's normal for Vauxhall dealers to treat an ABS sensor fault as "vehicle off-road" - they certainly didn't when one of my front sensors went faulty. I was aware that ABS wasn't available but the car was otherwise driveable.
