My mate has a e46 3 series and the wiper arms go straight across the blade so they look quite neat and tidy
Is there any way of fitting these to other vehicles such as a 306 because i like the way they look

Hello there,
Just bought a new VW Bora 1.6 S, and picking it up on Tuesday. We currently own a much smaller car, so it'll be a steep learning curve to learn how to park the Bora for me, but especially for my wife, who isn't the most confident of drivers, but will need to drive the car on her own sometimes.
We've talked about parking sensors, whether they might be worth the money and give her a little peace of mind. I have no experience of them at all, never really needed one in the past. She even leaves extra early for work so she can guarantee an empty car park to drive into!
Anybody have any thoughts/experiences of them?
Thanks Read more
Apologies if this is the wrong board.Could anyone recommend a reputable company to lease a car for personal use for 12months to 2 years,or any comparison sites. To be used for business and pleasure? Read more
I had a terrible experience with yes-lease - please be aware, very unreliable - would never use them again
Hi
I was looking some help, I've recently sold a 2002 Mondeo 2.0TDCI which gave me loads of bother with injectors and cost me a fortune to repair, I now need to buy another car and I'm not sure what to buy. I have up to £3000 to spend and don't know whether to go for a petrol or diesel car, I do about 18000 miles a year and need decent enough room for one car seat and a buggy.
I have thought about a 2002 Renault Clio/ Ford Fiesta/Peugeot 106/Peugeot 206, I would like a smaller car that is cheap to tax( £35 for 12 mths if possible) and run.
Could anybody tell me about common faults of the above cars or which of the above cars they would reccommend and roughly the mpg for that car
I have read the 106 has a high 7 out of 9 death rate in accidents? I want a safe car for myself and my kids.
Many thanks Read more

Will tell you a lot.
Hi
Is anyone aware of the new condition based servicing requirements of newer BMWs .
Just bought new shape 2005 3 series with 8800 miles, genuine. Will be coming up to first service, after 2 years. Dashboard computer states oil change needed now (May2005 or 14,000 miles), along with air microfilter. however also has a sign stating front brake pads at 9000 miles. Does this mean check them now or change them. There is no way it can need brake bads, discs and pads visible through wheels are like new. Pad warning light NOT on.BTW plugs good for 60,000 miles.
Thanks

Brake fluid is every 2 years.
My old 320d, I had it for 3 years and 119k miles, only went in to the dealers 5 times!!!
I taxed my car last week and it made me realise just how expensive it's getting. The reminder quoted £190 but of course due to the budget increases this was then £205 when it came to tax it. For an ordinary 2 litre family car breaking the £200 barrier makes you think. It also prompted me to look at how it compares to other cars in terms of tax bracket and, although the difference wouldn't justify thinking about changing the car, it might well be one of the things I consider when I do change. Consider it as a proportion of your total motoring costs (but be completely realistic about this figure), and you'll find it's very small.
about changing the car it might well be one of the
things I consider when I do change.
The amount you would save would be an even smaller proportion.

I am thinking of buying a Focus TDCI less than a year old from a Ford main dealer and the package includes £235 for a hard protection of the water based paint against such things as bird droppings. Is it worth it and if it's so good why don't the manufacturers put it on at the factory.

Do a search on Ebay for 'Diamondbrite' - this is the
stuff most of the dealers try to sell you. Its not
bad stuff and dead easy to put on.
I just did exactly that on my daughter's Colt - I got 2 packs of the stage 1 & 2 Diamondbrite for £8 something, inc postage. One pack was easily enough to do the 5 dr Colt, including inside the door shuts and the wheel trims - judging how much to apply was the only tricky bit.
It is extremely easy to apply, and you can go over the black plastic bits too, without it showing white as most waxes do.
Morning folks
I am just about to commit to a new Suzuki Vitara 1.9 DDIS but have one last niggling doubt, after I found out that Renault manufacture the DDIS engine that Suzuki have opted for.
The latest X-trail DCI engines (Renault) seem to have real issues to the extent HJ has now withdrawn his recommendation, and it's fair to say that their own cars seem to suffer higher than average reliability issues.
Am I worrying unduly? I would really appreciate your thoughs before I commit or otherwise?
Cheers
Steve

I think the x trail engines were the Nissan (cam chain) unit that have been having problems.

Brother in law has a vw passat 130hp tdi sport on a 02 plate with 95k on the clock. He has had it for approx 8 months. He has an eye on an audi and wants to sell the vw. He is asking £4500 for it. He keeps it in good condition and regularly services it.
He took it to a garage which had the audi. The garage offered aroung £4500 but when they found it is a taxi they valued it at £3500. Don't know if the garage were taking the mickey. They said they have to legally inform the buyer that it was once a taxi.
I know that taxi tend to lead a hard life but some owners keep it in tip top
condition to keep it on the road and also as a requirement from their operator.
how much do you reckon it is worth? Mot is till end of this year

My thoughts about ex taxi's is thus.
They buy a car and work it to the point wheres its uneconomic. That point is not the point I would want to be as the new owner.

Can you post the figures; both natural idle and fast idle. CO; HC and Lambda. Are there any exhaust leaks - even slight ones?
Where did the cat come from? Do you have any means to access live data; or a voltmeter?
