Is 150k too many miles, is the auto box a good one?
Thanks

Hi there everyone,
Just bought one of these today. 1 previous owner, 15k on the clock, 04 registration, £6495 from an approved dealer. Really excited about it, got a pretty good deal for my old car too. Picking it up next Tuesday, but not sure I can wait that long!
Has anybody had any experience of these cars? What did you think of it?
Cheers Read more
Thanks guys, thats pretty much what I've heard from the reviews.
I'm currently driving a much smaller car (around 50 bhp) so you can imagine what it felt like to be sat behind the wheel of a car with a little bit of powerbehind it on the test drive! And theres also something about the VW workmanship on the car. The word 'refined' comes to mind. My brother in law has a MkIV Golf, and I've always been impressed by that car, and the Bora gave me the same feeling, only for muh cheaper!
Bit gutted that I pick it up Tuesday, and I go away for 4 days on Wednesday, so I won't get the chance to take it for a good spin, but I'll make up for that when I get back.
Thanks again
Hi all, I have a meriva and there is some tar on the paintwork by the front wheel arch. Anyone know whats the best thing to remove it? My husband thought it was just a mark and touched it so now its smeared a bit! I haven't tried to remove it as I don't want to damage the paintwork.
Many thanks

While draining the coolant from the cylinder block today on my Citroen ZX 1.9D (93) I discovered that the oil level sensor is missing. I'll order & fit a new one but where does it connect to? Read more
I'm pretty sure they don't have one.
My 96 ZX 1.9TD has not got one.
In anycase most Oil Level sensors are in the sump, not the block.
I have just bought a 1995 Honda accord. The central locking works with the key but not the supplied key fob. It is the single button infrared style, but can it be reprogrammed/ reset? I have changed the batteries but with no joy. Thanks Read more
Not sure if the following sites are of help or not. I previously posted them for someone else who had fob programming problems.

I have the chance of a Honda Prelude, 2.0l K reg. All is in good condition apart from the backbox which need replacing and the ABS light comes on when driving. I do not want to agree to the sale until i can get some advice on what would cause this to come on. Another light which indicates a bulb is out too comes on. I know that parts can be expensive so i don't want to commit myself to the car if it is going to cost me a fortune. The brakes seem fine etc but the car has been sitting for 2 month. It also has a new cat, front pipe and centre box. Any advice would be greatful. Read more

I am constrained by the 'no naming and shaming' directive but.......here goes.
I have just discovered corrosion bubbling up all along the inside seam at the bottom of three of four doors of our seven year old Focus Estate - usually well cleaned and kept in a garage.
There is no such corrosion on either of the brace of Peugeot 309s belonging to my sons, both of which live outside, are more than twice as old, hardly ever cleaned and have done more than twice the mileage.
Is this a known problem just affecting Focuses [Foci?] of this age or is it just par for the course for Ford?

Hmm. Looks as though Ford have applied their bean counters to the galvanising process too. Looking at the Mondeo door rust problem, I find this degree of rusting on a supposedly galvanised panel to be surprising, to put it politely. The zinc is supposed to operate as a sacrificial anode - it does on PSA cars anyway.

On the 40K service stamp they have added B-F-C and Tick to show it has been done. Does any one know what this stands for is it by any chance an Air Con service. Main Audi Dealer Cardiff. Regards Peter Read more
Dunno. But just had my 02 VW Golf's aircon serviced and you could hang your coat off my nipples now it's that cold in the cabin. The (independant) I went to reckoned every two years whatever the make of car.

I have had an 98 1.3 accent coupe for about 18 months now.
Obviously not in the same league as the one you looked at, as it is basically just a 2 door hatchback, but it has given me a lot of respect for the marque.
It is commuted and abused by Mrs S, left outside all the time and so on, but has never failed to start nor broken down.
DIY servicing is a doddle, and any bulb can be changed in seconds. I fitted a cambelt without the aid of a manual, only work required for the MOT was rear brake pipes ( plus fitting new rear cylinders whilst I was in there )
All this and peanuts to buy, it is now on 120k, I expect it to last for another 30k if the convertible bug doesn't bite first
