Thinking of using them to remove tar marks and other gritty surface contaminants. Its a fairly new car. Is it tricky to use?? Read more
Roly no. OP is right. Clay bar removes persistant surface contaminants - tar spots dead
insect marks bird poo marks.
I stand corrected !
I need to get a pickup for the company and just cannot decide on what will be the best bet new Navara or new L200. Any real life owners input will be greatly appreciated as I am now numb from the different salesmans trying to persuade me to buy their truck.
To be honest I like both but just can't choose Read more
You can now get the Hilux with a 3 litre engine, which is better than a tuned up 2.5 litre one. They also have lower warranty failures and a better auto box.
Can anyone give me a link to any websites that can give me a good diagram of a lucas pump for my 306 d turbo. Been having problems with it and just need to know what does what.... Cheers for any help given Read more
Sorted my original problem. I found disconecting the battery then reconecting it reset the immobiliser and the car started streight away. Sadly now the alarm goes off and the key fob is broke. I found taking the brown relay under the steering wheel solved the problem. Thank you for everyones help.
Morning all. What methods/products do people on here employ for giving carpet mats a good clean/scrub.
I don't want to go to the expense of hiring a wet vac but don't think the readily available foam aerosols actually clean the dirt out...

A pressure washer will just blast the dirt deeper into the pile and damage the backing. Stick them in the washing machine (unless they are expensive lambswool) at low temp with a biological detergent.
Done and spun in 20 minutes.

Ok new here in need of help,
ok here goes. i recently bought a fiesta endura 1300 r reg efi with faulty engine, bottom end was knackered i just bought a ka engine the same with only 25,000 miles was mint changed old inlet manifold etc and wiring from old engine fitted all to the new ka engine the drop it in,
now the prob, its start first time but keeps reving real high, i have cleaned the idle valve throttle housing etc but still no joy, i notice that if i disconect the pipe that runs to the air filter at the throttle body end it rev's right but try to stall, so it seems to rev high once the air filter is conneted i have been through all the wiring etc and can't find a logical reason for the engine to just rev up on its own..
any ideas or where to start??
many thanks.. Read more
hi the yes it a electronic pot and i have changed both these and throtle body to old one that was used befoe, reason why i had to change the inlet manifold was the brass water tap had thread the plastic of the inlet and couldn't be fixed so i was givin another inlet manifold, like i say i have changed so far from old manifold to new the throttle housing plus sensor and idle valve there not much else to it apart from injectors..
.....in Ghana?
I thought it was the RHS but I may be getting confused with Oman.
The Fil has worked in both countries, and we've been out to see him in both. The more recent trip was to Ghana, but FiL and SWMBO thinks it's the LHS like the UK. Read more
Same as Cyprus.... whichever side is in the shade ;-)
I read time and again on this forum about cars being 'underpowered'. The latest discussion is subsequent to TVM's informative report on the Nissan Qashqai where 105bhp deemed insufficient.
So I just wonder how we define 'underpowered' these days.
Living in Germany years ago with an early 100bhp Audi 100(not a small car) I would cruise comfortably at 100mph on the autobahn. The 100bhp Mk1 Golf Gti(admittedly a light car) was a sensation.
For many years, almost every week, I have undertaken the 160 mile journey from Central London(Westminster) to the mid-Wales border and then back to London.
The journey is roughly 15 miles in London traffic, 100 miles M40/M42 and 45 miles rural single carriage A roads.
I have driven this route at all times of the day and night and in all manner of cars and a several times in a van.
In all these trips, the time for the journey is almost totally dependant on 3 factors - traffic conditions, weather conditions, and by how much I am prepared to exceed the speed limit.
Even the slowest vehicle - probably SWMBO's old 45bhp Polo would wind up to 90mph on the motorway and, given similar conditions, there would not be more than a couple of minutes in journey time between that car and my usual hot hatch(latest is 150bhp Golf Turbo)
Sticking rigidly to speed limits I would wager that the difference in time for the Polo and a Ferrari would be minimal.
So is adequate power merely a nice push in the back; or how do you define it?

Hi,
I got a brand spanking new Mondeo 2.2 ST delivered today, however reading the owner's handbook is hard work - because none of the illustrations match any of the instruments in the car!
It has just clicked but possibly I have got a handbook for the new model. Only when I got to page 80, there is a picture of the instrument display and it looks awfully like the new digital mondeo display.
Also, earlier I spent about 20 minutes trying to find the non-existent lever to open the bonnet. I did a search and found out how to open it on this site....
Guess the dealer maybe ran out of old ones - but does this sound feasible or am I being a plank? Read more
I don't think it has the weights. It has all the dimensions for the saloon, hatch and estate, plus there is a section on towing equipment measurements. Can't see any weights unfortunately though.
It does say that the weights are on the vehicle identification plate though which won't be much use for you yet.
Following an accident (third-party's fault), our insurer has declared our car a total loss.
The car is a Ford Focus LX 1.6 Auto 5dr hatchback, V-reg (99), 32K miles, 2 lady owners from new, fsh (last serviced in Mar 07), 11 months MOT & tax.
The insurance company have offered £3300 in settlement. Ideally, we'd like to replace this with a similar car. Having had a look on autotrader, we'd be looking to pay from around £4K for an automatic Focus with similar mileage.
1. Would you consider this a reasonable valuation?
2. I am planning to write to the insurers asking them to revise the valuation. Does anyone have a template letter I could use?
Thanks Read more
> Re the valuation are you sure the valuer accouted for your car being an
auto
No I am not. The insurance co provided very little detail of their valuation process.
They did value the car twice (by two different people I hope) so it seems
unlikely that the fact it's an automatic would be overlooked.
Well make sure they revalue it then, an auto will be worth more. If it is substantially damaged externally the assessor may have not got closer to it than 10ft and simply noted the reg and model, in the days of analogue odometers he would have checked that and noticed it was an auto though with a digital one he may well take yours or the recoverer / body shop's word on the mileage.
> Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec auto 2002/52 21k miles £4 700s
In fairness my car was a lot older than this (1999/V-reg) so a direct comparison
could be misleading.
>>
My point is that a four/five year old one might be £6500 on the forecourt, ok yours is 3 years older though the mileage is not much higher.
Perhaps youir local dealer or Ford indy could put in writing what they think you car was worth or waht it would cost to replace.

cheers it sounds like the same problem il have a go and strip it down alot cheaper option hopefully
