Hi All. Well i have been messing about for five hours now and got nowhere. This morning the lexus style lights arrived for my ford Ka (2003/ 03 plate) complete with the bulbs and wiring connectors, so a simple 15 min job to change over, or so I thought. The problem I have only affects the rear drivers side. When i switch on the indicator and side lights, the filament in the side light bulb goes dim, and then bright inconjunction with the indicator bulb flashing, also if I press the brake light the indicator does light up at all or flash.
At first I thought I had a faulty loom that was supplied with each of the lights, both identical, so swopped them over and still the same problem on the drivers side. When i put the original ones back on, everything is perfect. Any body out there any ideas of what it might be. Totally baffled...Thanks all.. Graham.

Sorted at last. What i found was the connector on the offside lights are wired totally opposite to the near side ones, so i swopped over each of the wires on the lexus light connector, soldered them all in place, and hey presto all working as they should. Thanks all out there for your help and comments, Cheers, Graham.

You know the good weather's here once more when the rash of air con problems surface! Guilty as charged, m'lud.

We own a Renault Megan Scenic 1997, and have had it since birth. I have just noticed that the aircon is not coming on. It looks like (when Ifind it!) a pretty straight forward electrical problem, because although the little tell-tale light on the A/C button comes on, there is no familiar CLUNK from the clutch as the aircon pump engages, and no accompanying whine from the engine cooling fan as it starts up too (both which can normally be clearly heard cutting in).

I have gone through the electrical diagrams in the Haynes manual, which are about as useful as a not very useful thing, at all. I have checked all the likely fuses, and can find nothing that's popped (driver foot well fuse bank or relay box under the bonnet). One thought was that it might be a recalcitrant relay, but i haven't found it yet.

Any ideas? Has anyone got any HALF DECENT wiring diagrams?

It pains me to EVEN THINK of taking it to some Renault dealer, who will tell me it needs regassing. Yeah, right, mate. And you need redeploying.

Thanks for those consistent answers, chaps. (I was near Leighton Buzzard once, but only because Iwas badly lost). I'll try fond a local independent specialist.

Hi there, Charla, I have just sold mine. I ran it 6 months, the only few problems i had was the drivers electric window packed up, due to a bad connection on the switch, a water leak from one of the heater pipes, a total sod to get at (Garage job) and ingress of water into the car which was a nightmare to find, but found it in the end. Apart from that I found it reliable, easy to park, fine on the motorway at 75 and very comfy seats. Hope this helps, Cheers, Graham.

Someone mentioned the ABI website and the new insurance groups.

Is there any quick way of converting the insurance group into a cost in our good strong British pounds? Maybe a table somewhere which shows the cost of each group?

Contemplating taking the rusty rear discs off the C3 for the second time in 58K miles and looking at a £50 bill from Andrew Page, I wondered if technology has the answer to mild steel discs which turn to cornflakes as soon as one's back is turned. Could the same inspired genius who gave us everlasting stainless steel exhausts be persuaded to market stainless discs?

Cast iron, eh? I stand corrected.

Yes the C3 handbrake works on the rear disks, and you can't tell Mrs H anything about making progress, or firm braking, come to that :-x

Bit of a strange one.

car is a 1996 volvo 850 estate t-5

my rear abs sensors were well out of tolerance, so i ordered up a complete new set of sensors front and back and fitted them today.

now after fitting the speedo is under reading by about 50%

i understand that the speedo takes its reading from the front wheel abs sensors, so i have obviously done something wrong while fitting the front ones to casue this problem??.

what could cause this?? maybe positioning the sensor too close to the toothed wheel?? Read more

OP, you have lost me now...

You haven't explained the whole story. Now you say the abs light is on. You didn't mention that before..(unless I missed it in the thread)

From what you're saying (tested on grass), it doesn't mean all the 4 wheels are working. I suspect the abs light is still on because the sensor(s) on the front / rear is still upsetting the abs ecu. It may even be the abs ecu affecting your speedo reading (if its faulty).

Can you try disconnect the wire to the abs ecu to isolate the connection?

Have they changed the rules regarding motorists joining a Motorway? Last week went from Edinburgh in my Chevrolet Matiz SE+ " see my other post" during the journey I was cut up numerous times by twits who wanted to get on the Motorways. It was not possible to move lanes!

So have they?

On a similar note, for those who crave a little excitement stay on the slow lane when passing M4 Jct 18 when heading west. The joining slip road is long, straight and with a goodly downhill gradient. No thought of what might lay ahead, they come down that slip road like bats out of hell. you just do not see the whites of their eyes you can also read the corneas as well. A wonderful start to the day.

Having an aversion to Motorway Service Areas, can anyone suggest a website or publication which lists alternative eating establishments within a few minutes of motorway junctions?

I like motorways for driving, but feel that the service areas leave much to be desired.

I have used "5 minutes away" but am not happy with it.
