I need to get the window winder handle off a 1999 Micra 1.0 (driver side on a 3 door model) so that it can be re-positioned, but I cannot see how to do this. Can any kind soul let me know how to get it off without breaking it.
I often seem to find that plastic trim items on cars are held on by 'secret' catches and clips, which makes their removal difficult / impossible without breaking the things, unless one knows said 'secret'. Read more

Hi
New to this forum. I have a Passat 99 TDi and I have evidence water leakage in the passenger rear footwell. I am aware of the possibilities. I am going to try the silicon on around the pollen filter first. My question is, what kind of silicone sealant do I use?
Thanks

Just bought an OE filter from the dealership, the pleated paper element type.
Price, £12 +vat and regarding *OE* dealers parts department told me it was a purflux filter....
Same filter ( Purflux) £4 + vat at a trade outlet.
(or £3.50 +vat if buying 10 filters.
Is that a record for mark up?
Triple cost for the manufacturers name on the box...........

No, its not a record mark-up, but it is a mistake to assume that it is the same quality filter.
There are just a handful of big oil filter makers in the world. They supply both manufacturer and aftermarket. Aftermarket filters often use inferior components for the same application. e.g. Purflux make filters for Honda and Mitsubishi - but an aftermarket filter for a Honda is not of the same standard as a Honda-branded Purflux filter. I agree the difference is not 300% though!
With the spin-on types the differences are nornally in the anti-drainback valve and the actual quantity of paper in the filter.
Good to see the price of diesel has dropped slightly- 89.9 pence per litre at my local Tesco this morning. Car running on fumes, doing my weekly shop, I'll have some of that please. Read in the paper that demand for diesel is lower than usual this winter due to the ongoing mild weather and has resulted in the price drop.

Fantastic, 89.9p a litre.
Last weekend in France filled up at 0.99 euro a litre - about 66p?
Crude oil prices don't have that much effect here - we need a fall in the Gordon Brown price.

As a p.s. to the above, I note the latest version of the Garmin nuvi gpsr is including a FM transmitter in the European models (with a warning about legal use). Previous versions only included the transmitter in US and Australation (spelling?) models

The original question has being answered. This thread is now going nowhere in particular. Besides that, this is a motoring website, and the discussion in this thread isn't - hence it's imminent closure.

Does anyone know if this is possible and how straight forward? AFAIK cruise is an option but not standard on any of the previous generation Civics, and I would be interested in having it fitted to an 04 model year SE Exec. manual.
If anyone has any info, I'd be happy to receive it.

If you're due to get your address changed and it's over the 4 years the changes to your licence are free and the points come off!
That's what happened when we moved house.
OK, so moving house was an extreme measure to go to to save the few quid on the admin fee I know ;)
