Just bought an OE filter from the dealership, the pleated paper element type.
Price, £12 +vat and regarding *OE* dealers parts department told me it was a purflux filter....
Same filter ( Purflux) £4 + vat at a trade outlet.
(or £3.50 +vat if buying 10 filters.
Is that a record for mark up?
Triple cost for the manufacturers name on the box...........

Sorry, should have said *oil Filter*

No, its not a record mark-up, but it is a mistake to assume that it is the same quality filter.
There are just a handful of big oil filter makers in the world. They supply both manufacturer and aftermarket. Aftermarket filters often use inferior components for the same application. e.g. Purflux make filters for Honda and Mitsubishi - but an aftermarket filter for a Honda is not of the same standard as a Honda-branded Purflux filter. I agree the difference is not 300% though!
With the spin-on types the differences are nornally in the anti-drainback valve and the actual quantity of paper in the filter.
