Dear All,
How should I go about getting a repair, or cheap second-hand radiator,
for a Ford Ultima radiator?
It is for a 1995 24v Cosworth with auto gearbox .I think its a 4 speed auto box.

Hope someone who is knowledgeable about oils could help me please?
2001 1.4 Corolla with the vvti engine.
When I checked the oil level recently it was below the end of the dipstick and took about 1.5 litres to be around midway on the disptick. At the same time I was getting a sound from the top of the engine which I suspect was camshaft noise as the oil was not lubricating the camshaft correctly.
Now the oil is topped up the noise has disapeared but I want to change the oil this weekend and instead of the 5/30 oil that is recomened would I be better using a 10/40 oil that is thicker at working temperatures so that the cam lubrication is improved.
Also it seems the engine is using oil at a rapid rate but I cannot see any leaks or signs of it being burnt. The plugs are not oiled. So its a little mystery. Read more
Many thanks
Have changed the oil with 5w30 which is the recomended grade and all seems Ok.
Just as a follow-up to the thread about Richmond residents' "gas guzzlers" facing a large parking charge increase based on CO2 emissions
www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=46117&...f
Private Eye has an interesting article this week.
In brief, it points out that
Richmond is not a high CO2 producing borough (25th out of 33 London boroughs)
Emissions from homes, shops and offices make up 78% of the total emissions
Road transport makes up 22% which includes emissions from buses, trucks and also the thousands of vehicles which pass through the borough (A3, South circular etc)
Only one third of housholds are in CPZs, and only one half of those require permits. ("Rich" people who have off street parking will not incur the charge)
The scheme will encourage people to use cars for commuting rather than leave cars at home, use public transport for commuting and hence incur the charge.
Conclusion? Will have virtually no effect on CO2 emissions, may actually increase them! But will, of course increase the amount of money going into council coffers.
ABD also states much the same in its response to these increased charges

There is an organisation in Bishops Stortford near Stansted advertising car parking. The car key must be left with them. When I used it my car was returned damaged and filthy dirty. Their fine print attempts to exclude any liability. In future I will never use a car park where the key has to be left. Omegalen

That seems very heavy for 39mph in a 30 Limit. Or
was he breaking the perceived 40mph limit as well ?
That's what tends to happen if you take it to court though isn't it?? - don't the scamera lot threaten you with fines of "up to" £1000 ??

Hi,
My old corsa was nearly nicked but I managed to chase them off and now I'm looking for a car lock as I need to keep the car for at least another year.
I was looking at the market and found it hard to find reviews on the current models.
Are the Autolok 2000 plus or EXS the best steering locks on the market? because they claim to be Thatcham cat 3 and sold secure approved and can resist over 15 mins of aggressive attack and were updated in 2005.
They seem to cover half the wheel and maybe easier to fit than the full Disclocks?
Any opinions on these please?
Cheers

Thanks for the replies.
So I guess the problem with the Half covered wheels is that the thief could saw off the exposed semi circle of the rim
and slide the lock around and off the wheel....But surely that sounds too easy?

Friend has recently bought a 2.7 litre twin turbo A6 Quattro
and that is well over 200hp IIRC. Pretty fast apparently.
225bhp, also used in the Allroad, and 275 bhp in the S4.
Please help someone!!
Ive just changed my 2E2 pieberg carb to a manual choke weber which when first ran is spot one but when driving to work or driving home after about 30ish minutes the car struggles to rev. It will sit at idle but seems to cough! when reved. Ive read a bit about carb icing and found my heat despertion plate was missing so i fitted one with the tube to the air box but icing is still happening.
Im pulling my hair out now as i work for an Audi dealer and even the old skool techs are stumped!
Ive only owned the car for a couple of weeks and changed the carb as the 2E2 was rubbish!!
The weber is a second hand item but was told it came off an 1800 (which mine is) so i cam only presume the jets are fine. They have 155 stamped on them.
Any help would be fantastic because im a huge Mk1 Golf fan and was hoping this Mk2 would catch me to. Read more
Thanks for the update, and glad it's sorted.
Hi
My dads old 96 P reg VW Caddy is about worn out, we are going out to look at a replacement van after xmas.
It needs to be no taller then the old Caddy 1846mm ( a bit lower roofline would actually be better ) because it has to fit in a garage.
He has seen a lot of good deals on run out pre reg mk4 Astravans with the 1.7 CDTi engine / Sportive spec, Is the mk4 Astra van with that CDTi lump any good? I have heard a lot of horror stories from the trade people over reliability.
Also been told to look at Transit Connect, Citroen Berlingo & the new shape VW Caddy.
Max cost of £9K either new or nearly new ( dont worry about VAT, thats claimed back ) & its a cash sale, must be a diesel, must have ABS, deadlocks would be a good plus, alarm would be nice & also so would aircon.
Outright weight carrying capacity isnt really an issue but reliability is.
Any known horror stories for the above mentioned vans? any others to consider adding to the list?
Thanks Read more
I knows there's a wiring modification issue on the Connect for the ECU controlled alterantor.
There is a temp bodge to get you home / to garage should it throw the warning light on before it leaves you stuck.
He has never had a side loading door on any van he has owned so while it would be nice to have one its not really essential.
A TDI Caddy van is on the test drive list, also the Birlingos have cracking deals on pre reg delivery miles so that's on the list too.
Nice to have someone who actually responds!! Thanks!
