Can somebody help. After having a 24,000 mile service my Primera was returned to me. The next day I experienced loss of power after idle. I found that if I switched engine off and restarted the power was restored. If clutch was disengaged the revs would return. Reported this to dealer who had car in for inspection and they recalibrated fuel pump. Fault not rectified. The dealer has also re-programmed the engine management system. On one journey the fault occurred and an engine symbol was showing on dash with instruction "there may have been a malfuntion in the engine management system. Do not drive at high speed and contact Nissan Dealer a.s.a.p. Dealer then found bad earth and replaced. Fault still not rectified. After putting up with this situation for over 6 months the car is still not performing properly. The dealer is now saying that it could be a problem with the fuel pump. If this is the caseand they strip it down and if they find corrosion due to water penetration then my warranty would not be valid and I am looking at a £2,000 bill. How can this be? I still have two years to run on my warranty. How can I tell if they are being truthful or trying to get out of their obligations under the warranty? Thanks

Sorry about late reply. Get them to check boost sensor and throttle sensor. I had a smilar problem which didn't show up when connected to Consult but when checked properly showed up. Worth a look.

hi,
my daughter complained that her car was over-heating when i had a look at it i discovered the header tank was tainted with oil and the inside of the cap had the familiar white gunge normally found on the inside of the oil filler cap when water has enter the oil.
on this occasion there isn't any sign of water on the inside of the oil filler cap on on the dipstick.
would you say this is a head gasket blown and, if so, is it a fairly straightforward job?
any comments welcome

There are loads of k-series rovers in scrap yards in perfect nick but overheated engines...................my brother has a factory built k series Caterham 7 that did it's first head gasket at 7000 miles. Crap engines. That's Rover for you.

The diagnostic couldnt find anything wrong on the first 2 visits but on the third said that the knock control module and the egr valve needed seeing to, these have been changed but shes still juddering and spluttering like a tank when started up and has no pull to her as though the accelerator is missing the first few seconds when being pushed . There have been no other problems with the car untill now. Please help im new to this and dont want to get ripped off.

You must not only inform the DVLA buit also your insurance company-I had to go into all this not because of brain injury but diabetes.

My P Reg BMW 325 ventilation seems to work ie the Blower operates, but the volume of air coming out of the vents within the car does not vary (it is low). Any ideas what could be wrong and how to fix it? Could it be the pollen filter - if so how do I access it? Read more

Oh - I just looked and it says it's hard! Takes 1 hr+ (1 min on newer models)!

Was wondering if anyone can help me out with my 2003 1.2 SEAT Ibiza. The first thing is that if the engine is under any load at less than 2000 rpm it sounds as though the fan belt slipping. This goes away if you switch the air con on- but surely the fan belt wouldn't slip at 3 yrs old and less than 30000 miles would it?
The second thing is if you leave the car locked for any length of time and then unlock it, as soon as you open the drivers door theres an electrical whirring noise that seems to come from under the car somewhere for about 2 seconds. Anybody got any ideas what it is? Its not really a problem, but its annoying the heck out of me because I don't know what it is.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a belt slipping

"but surely the fan belt wouldn't slip at 3 yrs old and less than 30000 miles would it?"

I have a 1994 VW Golf GTI 2Litre DOHC and have just replaced the drivers door window motor & mechanism, I don?t think I?ve interfered with any wiring but since then the interior light, glove box light & electric sunroof have stopped working. I?ve checked the fuses & they are intact. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be or know if this could be related to the central locking or door mechanism in anyway?

It points to a problem with fuse 16 (15 amp) as this is the fuse for the sunroof & the interior lights. If you've checked the fuse and its ok, could you have damaged the wiring behind the fuse box in any way? Not sure, but there must be a way to see if there is current going into that particular fuse connection.

Ay about 3am this morning, whilst driving downhill from the university in Huddersfield I encountered a hole in the road, about 18" square and 6" deep. The few cones at the side of the road that should have been surrounding the hole had been moved out of the way. There was no steel plate over the hole preventing me or other hapless travelled from falling in.

I now need a new rim and tyre whch I can easily source now I'm back in sunny Luton but I could do with help knowing the name of the road that this hole was on, a pic of the hole would be good if anyone's local enough to do me a favour.

Contact details of the local council and the contractors and which one I should invoice for the replacement wheel and tyre will also be helpful.

just driven through huddersfield tonight and if you mean the hill down to sainsbury's roundabout (used to be perry.s /ford dealership here ) then the road is being resurfaced and i saw at least one dangerous grate but it was coned off.
If it is here then the street lights are appaling and i would put in a claim if i was you.
