H i can anyone help my daughter bought a BMW Mini Convertable paid £25000 for it had an accident in it where she hit some ice and went into a very deep ditch, despite us getting 2 independant garages to put in writing that it was beyound econmical repair and that my daughter reapetadly phoned the insurance company to say that she did not want the the car repaired because the year before her brother died in a road crash they went ahead and repaired it. it was repaird by a BMW bodyshop,we have tried to sell it ever since but no luck as people can see that it has been repaired it does not show on the HPI list when we did get some one to consider buying it he phoned the bodyshop and they very kindly told him that it been in a major accident and the repair bill came to £16000 insurance company wont pay compensation as they are saying that some where in the small print they wont pay compensation so we are stuck with a car we cannot sell due to it being repaird and not worth any like it should be if it hadent been involved in a accident Read more

Lost sole,
I've no idea if this is of any help or not. As Peugeot is closely related to Citroen; whilst googling, I came across the following site. You *might* be able to find a way of resyncronising your keyfob from one of the cars listed.
www.peugeotdiesel.com/Program_Keys.html
I'm not sure whether I should have started a thread on this but I'm going round in circles.
AOL Anti-Spyware tells me it has detected a piece of spyware with a name that includes the word 'popups' that is classed as 'nuisance'. When I tell the program to block it I can no longer get into Honest John and the Back Room. Is this just another advertising-linked thing I will have to put up with or is it more sinister? Can I safely leave it alone or is this goodbye Back Room forever? Read more
The Website is flashy and overstyled, so its exactly like their cars.
Hmm, I agree that the Honda website is silly and that their latest model is grotesquely overstyled (as well as dangerously designed). But most other current Hondas (e.g. Jazz, Accord) are quite restrained.
195/60/R15 88V's. Need two replacements...the one's on that back (that are staying) are Goodyear Eagle NCT5's. I was wondering what other people think of their tyres, such as the Bridgestone Turanza E300 and Vredistein Sportrac 2 - or if there are any other brands you feel are worthy or to avoid???
Cheers,

The only case of oversteer I can recall after fitting new tyres was when I had a pair of Avon tyres on the back (Michelin Energy on the front). For at least a hundred miles, the new tyres had much less grip than the fronts and the the car was liable to oversteer. The handling was still a bit nervous for quite some time after that and didn't feel right until I replaced the worn out Michelins with Avons at the front. With new Avons at the front, the handling was fine, right from the start.
Due to a short notice trip to County Durham yesterday I hired a car through work to transport some equipment up north and attend a meeting.
On returning to the car I noticed that both passenger and driver windows were open about 4 inches. I never opened the windows (I had arrived via the A1(M) and would have noticed an open window! The temperature according to the sensor was about 28C outside. (Electric front windows, manual rear windows.
Is this a safety feature? Can it be over-ridden? No manual in the car of course.
I was wondering what would happen if one of the thunderstorms had passed overhead?

BMWs do this
So does my Vectra. I believe the Omega also could have its windows operated by the keyfob.
i own a 1996 1.8 diesel mondeo, about 6 weeks ago, when i was in a traffic jam, i was creeping along when suddenly the engine speed soared, redlined, then settled back down, i was told this could be due to the turbo being nackered as there was oil in the intercooler, so i changed it, 4 weeks later it did the same.....stuck in traffic, engine speed goes through the roof, but i was ready so i stalled it - (wording changed - DD). there was oil in the intercooler again! so i went back to the scrap yard, and got another turbo............2 days later and its done it again!!!!
is it really the turbo's that are nackered? or is there another way for the oil to enter the intercooler?? or could there be a fault on my car which causes the turbos to fail? or is it the turbos themselve that are crap because theyre from the scrap yard????
please help! Read more
Hmmm! Just read your last post and hope this isn't too late to help.
My present 'L' reg TD did this and eventually snapped the cambelt. Cause is belt drive sprockets on end of crank coming loose due to a pin shearing - not nut coming loose btw. These symptoms are exactly as happened on my car, the clatter would disappear only to start again in a while. Love your description of 'can of marbles;' its exactly right. This could well have been caused by the gross over-revving you described but is probably not related otherwise.
I have been told that apparently it's my kids' holiday too and that we should look at going to Disneyland for a couple of days. My response that they can pay for this part of "their" holiday didn't cut much ice so I'm faced with the truly appalling prospect of 48 hours of saccharine brand immersion and being pick-pocketed by a giant mouse. I would rather eat my fingers than pay to stay in some logo strewn 'hotel style experience' on site at £200 a night so can anyone tell me what it's like to drive there from surrounding areas - is it the traffic hell I imagine it to be?
Can anyone suggest a real hotel within say an hour's drive?
Can anyone suggest some better lines to try on my wife to persuade of the folly of her argument? Read more
My girlfriend and I are going to paris in the middle of this month. Were are staying in paris and not hireing a car so are taking the train from the Gard Du Nord. We are going since she likes disney, what is worrying is that she is 21 and has just graduated from uni with a 1st in english, so you don't need kids to go (apparently). Have heard the car stunt show was a total waste of time, but then it is not surprising someone liked it since this is a motoring forum.
Tomorrow (5th July) London sees a further move in a bid to establish the legality of local authorities issuing penalty charge notices for parking but the consequences of any decision made tomorrow will be profound and could spark a constitutional crisis.
A case comes before the High Court tomorrow, which could ultimately lead to every parking fine in the country being declared invalid or, alternatively, the Metric Martyrs' convictions being declared 'unsafe?.
West Midlands pensioner Robin Decrittenden has an oral application to proceed to Judicial Review before Justice Andrew Collins in Court Number 2 the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand, London.
Justice Andrew Collins is renowned as a rebellious Judge and has history of infuriating politicians.
Robin Decrittenden states, " the politicians have created this mess and the judges now have the chance to clear up after them."
Bill of Rights defence
The crux of the case relies on the Bill of Rights 1689 which was referred to by Lord Justice Laws in the Metric Martyrs Judgment (18th February 2002 at the Royal Courts of Justice) as being a 'constitutional statute' and therefore incapable of implied repeal. As the 1991 Road Traffic Act which brought in 'decriminalised parking' does not allow access to a court of law for conviction (the fine or penalty simply imposed by a local authority) this therefore conflicts with the condition contained within the Bill of Rights which states:
"that all grants and promises of fines and forfeitures of particular persons before conviction are illegal and void."
That is to say, no fine such as the fixed penalty charge used by local authorities, police forces and various government departments from the Companies House to HM Revenue & Customs, can be lawfully issued and these bodies need to secure a conviction in a court of law before any financial penalty can be handed down. The consequences of Justice Collins? decision could be staggering and may lead to a full blown constitutional crisis.
Constitutional crisis
As no doubt many constitutional experts will be aware, on 21 July 1993, the Speaker of The House of Commons issued a reminder to the courts.
Betty Boothroyd said: "There has of course been no amendment to The Bill of Rights the house is entitled to expect that The Bill of Rights will be fully respected by all those appearing before the courts."
The implications are very serious indeed for the £1.2bn a year 'Parking Fine Industry' which was recently the subject of scathing criticism by the House of Commons Transport Committee's Report.
The Metric Martyr's Campaign Director Neil Herron states, "we have worked very hard to bring the Metric Martyrs Judgment back before the Courts and have had to bring about the conflict between the judgment and unlawful parking fines. As well as exposing the constitutional crisis we have also exposed the illegality and lawlessness of many aspects surrounding decriminalised parking. Now that we have created a massive financial crisis for the local authorities operating Decriminalised Parking Enforcement and a constitutional one for the Government perhaps we will get the justice that the Metric Martyrs deserve."
Mr. Herron issued his press release exactly six years to the day after that fateful day when Police Officers and Trading Standards Officers raided the market stall of Steve Thoburn and seized his scales. Steve became a national hero for his defiant and resolute stance against being convicted for selling a pound of bananas later died in tragic circumstances following a massive heart attack at the age of 39.
Anyone know what happened?

So if a parking ticket in a decriminalised area is NOT a fine, then maybe it's not enforceable unless there is a contract and a fair one at that?
Maybe this is really a gift from the Judge?
Can anyone offer some advice please. SWMBO runs a 2000 1.7 Puma. Recently it has taken to using up brake fluid. No sign of a leak anywhere. She took it to the Ford main dealer today & they have checked & can't find where it's going either. Any ideas ?

Ticked all the options on a Cooper S Convertible (well some are incompatible) and came up with £29,580!!!! For a Mini! I cannot believe you can add over £11k of extras to any normal car.
This figure does include the £3600 John Cooper works kit though... also cheated by not taking chilli pack I think but then adding most of the options.
