Could be wrong, but I imagine the fuel pump is security coded to the car. Changing it will result in the new pump having to be married up to the cars security system.

The keyfob on my Xsara HDI estate wouldn't unlock the car after I took the battery off to do some service work.
The main dealer thought it would be a five minute job...they ended up having to reload code to the car. It seems I had managed to corrupt the immobiliser. Could this be your problem? What does your garage think the problem is?

Further to my previous posting, and having read the question posed by the OP again, I may have misread the question.

Are you stating that the car will start and run, but that your remote keyfob is the only thing not working? If so, then perhaps it needs to be re-sync'd to the car. Not sure of the proceedure for doing that, but there *may* be a mention of it in the car's handbook - that is of course if you have one?

Dynamic dave, Car runs fine its just the remote key fob that does not work, nothing in handbook, I've owned car since new, but got fed up with citroen garage charging so much for everything, so took in to local garage for new pump. Maybe that was not such a good idea?? but thanks for trying to help me.

Lost sole,

I've no idea if this is of any help or not. As Peugeot is closely related to Citroen; whilst googling, I came across the following site. You *might* be able to find a way of resyncronising your keyfob from one of the cars listed.

If it is something that has failed, as a result of what they have done on the car, it is up to them to fix it - it is part and parcel of the work they did IMHO.

i was thinking on this line as but maybe the vehicle came in as a non runner (fuel pump no pumping) they therefore changed the pump (a basic garage job) but they dont have the scan gear to marry it to the car which being 2002 will have can bus type rubbish on it?
feasable yes?
