I read frequently, but only post when I have something useful to say.
They've just given their automatic geared bicycle, which was launched last year a revamp.
It's now a full 4 kg lighter, along with an intelligent lighting system, which also incorporates a parking-light function, as well as the rear light flashing when the bike is being ridden slowly.

looking out for your name on the results pages of CW,
so get training!
I am running Yorkshire Road Club Hilly "10" on the 19th March. But at nearly 60 I will not be getting many firsts now forty years ago when I was racing in France and belgium that was different.

I'm really surprised no one has posted this yet.
Ford have apparently paid £14m (!) for prodcut placement of the Mondeo in the next Bond film, although there will also be Aston Martins featured.
"The Mondeo being used for chase scenes in the Bahamas is a souped-up 140mph model [so at least it's not a TDCi then.]
Craig, 38 yesterday, drives only automatics ? so the car had to be modified." I wonder if that's true (as opposed to them just starting with an auto) and if so (presuming they used an ST) did they put an autobox in one or transplant the ST bodykit and interior to an existing automatic. Read more
If it's the foreign office we're talking about, lack of glamour is only to be expected.
Some time in the early eighties I watched the Foreign Secretary Francis Pym, a small man, and the French Foreign Minister who was almost as diminutive, tearing themselves away from a scrum of hacks in Horse Guards Parade and escaping with three heavies in... a (new, admittedly) brown Cortina!
Hi
I have a new lexus IS250 with bridgestone tyres. The pressures are correct. On all but the smoothest roads the ride is very firm ( uncomfortable) and every little road blemish is noticeable. Would changing tyres to another brand make any difference ?I notice that the newest cars are being fitted with Dunlops NOt sure if this is intentional or just simply what Toyota buy in at the time when the cars are built.
Thanks

I have Bridgestone Turanza ER30's on my C Class - they're 55 profile front, and 55 rear. I haven't really got anything to compare it to, but despite running with the pressures on the low side, it feels like the car runs on steel tyres.
I have read that Bridgestone's are noted for stiff sidewalls - apparently tyre fitters hate fitting them. I need to change mine soon and have settled on Michelin Pilot Primacy. There is even a special, Mercedes Option, version of some size Primacy's which is apparently better riding.

On second thoughts, if the car has the Marelli ignition system, then the advice about the centrifugal advice doesn't count. If it has the Lucas system, it does. The Marelli system is prone to losing spark to an entire bank, however, and this usually causes a catalyst fire. If you ever experience sudden power loss, stop *immediately* and check for glowing cats on one side.
hi i have a rover 75 2.0l v6 i was losing a pint of water a week
a local garage suggested c.heads. on having both gaskets done and cambelts changed (he never used looking tools).the car will not start when hot,i need to wait for about 30 mins.on cold start and when driving idle perfect and smooth running.changed the camshaft sensor still no luck.he said the rear head showed some leakage.any advice would be appreciated as mechanic has run out of ideas

My offside dipped headlight has failed. Purchased new H1 bulbs but am unable to gain sufficient access to the housing. Have disconnected washer jet hoses and moved out of way but still not enough room. Jag dealer wants to charge £20+VAT just to fit the bulb I've purchased and says that their engineers are "used to it" (i.e. don't take anything else apart).
ANyone able to give me some pointers or am I just going to have to "cough up"?!!

£20 isn't bad - only 1/4 hour or so labour.
If you can, watch how they do it for future reference.
I did that with my Passat- albeit it took me a few hours recently to do an Osram SS upgrade on all four bulbs.

I wasna fu but just had plenty.
I have just purchased a Garmin i3 satnav from Staples for the princely sum of £119! What a bargain. It does most of what the more expensive units do. Just the ticket as I don't need the bells and whistles.

Not into satnav though garmin produce great stuff pocket GPS etc.
I have 1.6 liter '87 E30 BMW 316 with Pierburg 1B2 carburetor and LPG conversion. It has only 30000 miles on the clock, and was not in use for 7 years (but was started and let at idle for ~20 min every month).
I started to use it now, and all worked perfect for 1000 miles, but now engine is shaking at idle. Not constantly, but every 10 or 15 sec and not in regular intervals. I adjusted valve clearances, changer sparkplugs, checked all vacuum hoses and vacuum operated devices (at carburetor and distributor). Carburetor was cleared (some ultrasound clean) in carb shop, and i changed rubber flange at the bottom of the carb. All looks OK, but shake is there.
I went to BMW dealership, and they could not do anything about it.
On cold starts rpm is to low ~1000 rpm. But when I switch at LPG it goes up at normal ~1700 rpm and then goes down as it warmes up.
Now to my question. How do find why is it shaking? It is the same on both LPG and petrol. Could it be ignition. I had a lot of advice's to bin Pierburg and get a Weber carburetor, but I would fee very stupid to find (after spending a lot of money) that it's ignition problem.
Any advice's/ideas? Read more
When you say the ignition was set, do you mean that
they adjusted the ignition timing?
Yes, that's what meant.
If so, that falls short of a full check on the
ignition system.
Most reasonable garages will have the facility to measure the operating
voltages in both sides of the ignition system, and can track
down faults.
However, there is quite a bit you can do for yourself,
especially if you have a multimeter available. You need to
measure the resistance of all the plug leads, and the coil
king lead. Also, the primary and secondary resistance of the
coil.
I will do that. I have Bentley and Haynes manual for E30, and multimer, so I will check everything that I can.
In some cases, you can see the ignition HT leaking out
if you open the bonnet at night - you shouldn't be
able to see any sparks.
I do not think that I have HT leads leak as I did some work around carburetor and I tested it with my hand. I felt nothing, so I think that HT leads are OK. But I will check it at night.
I agree with your comment about changing parts - it is,
on average, cheaper to diagnose a faulty part than to simply
change things out.
I suspect that I will find everything to be OK, as it was the case with carburetor, but I still have engine that shakes.
There are renewable fuels available now but not many people seem interested in using them. If there was enough demand then companies could gear up supply. If the Govt. started promoting the use of bioethanol and biodiesel, and further reduced tax to make them more cost effective, then we might reduce fossil fuels usage. But the Govt. dont want to lose their tax revenue do they...
