Me too, in a couple of years' time... minimalism rules. Might be low levels of crash safety though (not that they matter that much since I don't intend to crash). Probably noisy too.

There are renewable fuels available now but not many people seem interested in using them. If there was enough demand then companies could gear up supply. If the Govt. started promoting the use of bioethanol and biodiesel, and further reduced tax to make them more cost effective, then we might reduce fossil fuels usage. But the Govt. dont want to lose their tax revenue do they...

I've done a bit of digging and it turns out there is a company behind this with the "intention" of bringing this vehicle to the market and they're based here in Munich. They're looking for investors at the moment as well, though not those of a nervous disposition as product launch is 2009 at the earliest. Come to think of it though the risk probably isn't higher than investing in GM...

It looks rather good to me, although it's hard to tell from the pictures. No current small cars interest me much, but maybe this one will be the car I want (if it's as small as it looks). The fuel consumption is a bonus, although I'm not sure that 20hp will be enough for most drivers, they may need the 50hp one.

Yes it's terrific looking although I think the pic is a cleaned-up artist's impression sort of thing. On reflection the business about the doors is a bit strange. Either you take the side off and creep in or you take the roof off and climb in. Either one would take a bit of getting used to.
I don't think 20hp will put off anyone who likes 2CVs, especially as the thing is supposed to do 100. Looks as though we will have to wait and see though. Does a prototype exist? And what will the nanny state say when this neo-cyclecar is submitted for type approval?

A good effort. I'd like to see one with the engine driving a generator, and electric traction. Electric motors have much better torque characteristics and a couple of batteries could provide burst energy for hills and overtaking.

Probably. I'm generally in favour of the KISS principle, but I also like electric traction, especially for stop-start driving, and a small generator seems a better solution than a big pile of batteries.
I don't suppose these use much fuel either...
