Thx to ADMIN, sorry for not making it clear what vehicle i was talking about.....good job one of us is on the ball!!! Thx
Had an attempted break-in to my 2001 Punto and I now have to enter and exit via the hatchback/boot if I want to lock the car. The central locking still works if all the doors are closed and I 'press' the switch on the passnger door from the inside, but I can't lock either door with the key (both locks are damaged). I can get-by getting in and out via the boot (to apply the cental locking) but I'll be fed-up of it soon.
I know it's debatable whether or not it's worth locking this car in the first place, but -
Can these locks be repaired or is it as straight replacement job????
I'll do it on the cheap if poss. as have just stumped up for a new cylinder head gasjet.
Cheers and a big big thanks to those who responded previously concerning Punto-issues. I've never before been able to get technical info like this. Read more
Dunno if its the same as the 02 version. I had it broken into at a suppsedly secure airport parking...long story. As it was insurance job Fiat dealer said they had to replace All locks and ignition barrel cos of keycode chip + 2 keys. IIRC they charged insurance just over 200 quid
As a matter of interest the would be theives must have had a large screwdriver/chisel going by the damage on the locks but still could'nt gain entry so the smashed the drivers window to get in ...and find nothing.
Chassis: WDB 202128-2f-771563 6/Engine:605960-22-027802.
Problem: Since having a B Service by a Merc Agent back in Sept the engine sometimes refuses, to rev over 4200/kick down a gear. To begin with itseemed to only occur within a mile of a morning cold start. Now it occasionally does it when at normal running temperature - unpredictable and therefore dangerous when overtaking - feels like "reverse thrust" has been applied!
The Agent (his senior specialist has been with me when it happened so knows it does happen) has never found a software fault on his Merc Lap-top diagnosis tool. To-date it has been very much repair by replacement ie: New inlet manifold sensor and vacuum hose, new fuel pipes in engine compartment (done twice within two months as an air-lock was suspected as a half-inch or so bubble of air was visible in pipe from fuel thermostat to the filter assembly - air STILL appears, bleeding back from the filter end and lodging between the fuel thermostat and the filter, when the engine is switched off. The Agent having checked other cars, including the CDI, seems to think this is normal - I cant understand how it can be as it is a closed-loop system, or so I'm told).
The fuel thermostat was renewed. The Injector bleed-off hoses have been changed. The inlet manifold seals have been renewed. I THINK that the inlet air-mass sensor has been changed but I'm not sure (checking). A BOSCH Agent, Panda Fuel Injector Systems of Fareham, Hampshire, had the car for a week and reported that it was nothing to do with the fuel pump - the Merc agent suggested that the pump might be the problem! A new EGR assembly has also been fitted.
One morning when it happened a "chatter" similar to a relay rapidly switching on and off, was audible in the cabin - but this has not happened since. The agent said that the battery was at the end of its life - changed! No difference!
Any ideas? The Mercedes agent seems at a loss and I've asked that Mercedes (UK) get involved, now that it occasionally happens when the engine is running at operating temperature I'm concerned it could cause an accident.

Finally, I've tried using a branded diesel additive to no avail. Read more
Many thanks but this model is not Common Rail, its one of the last to use the old-fashioned pump fuel delivery system.

Hi (again), a replacement gearbox is on it's way for our 1992 Rover 214 16v cabriolet. My next dilemma is the viscocity of the oil to be replaced? My trusty Haynes manual tells me that HYPOID GEAR OIL 75W-80W GL-5 is to be used for topping up only and to contact ROVER DEALER for exact spec. I'm hoping that you (STEVE???) can help me quicker than calling my dealer tomorrow!! thx Read more
Nice to hear you fixed it,I didnt think it was gearbox,Happy motoring

I have an 52 plate scenic but the interior fan only works on number 4. It doesn't matter if you are recirculating air or getting fresh air in. i have taken the facia off and looked at the rotary switch and there's nothing obvious wrong. any ideas out there? Read more
Our works Fiesta (nearly 200k miles) has this problem, it is on the 3rd new resistor pack, dealer reckons the fan is drawing to much load and needs replacing though it is an expensive job requiring half the dash to be removed.
Folks,
An alternator overcharge problem I had back in the spring has cooked the batteries. The Monterey/Trooper has two.
The Vauxhall Trade Club are advertising 72/80, 85/88, 92, and 100ah GM "GO" batts. for decent prices.
They have 100ah (BBMS019) and 100ah (BBMS 249). What's the difference between these two?
Is more "ah" better, or does it damage something? I have two Lucas 72ah at the moment, around 590 CCA each..
And will these all fit?
Any observations, recommendations, suggestions welcomed.

There can be many differences. The main ones are for different terminal types and layouts. It's important to match these up, especially to double check that positive and negative aren't transposed.

My daughter has the above car, recently it has been running rough and stalling,it now shows the fuel injector light, does anyone have any clues what might cause this problem, thanks Burman. Read more
Sounds like a problem the coils which may (if not already) eventually screw up the ecu. I recently had to fork out just under 500 quid cos apparently when my one of the coils went on 02 punto it sent a spark the wrong way and fried the ecu. Hope your luckier than me with just the coils approx £90.00 for the pair, ecu is £250.00. Add labour and vat your looking at a hefty bill.
Just a guess, is the car around the 25000 mile mark. if so get rid of asap. This link ---> forums.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-forums.showdiscus...l might interest you or horrify you. It did to me so I promptly got shot of it
My C5 2.0 HDI 110 has always driven perfectly. In the last month however, the car has been feeling short of power.
Most of the time the car has been a bit slow to accelerate, and it was almost impossible to accelerate up motorway hills.
Every so often the car would "cough", followed by a cloud of black smoke and an abundance of power (how it should be).
After coughing, the car would feel great for a varying amount of time. The car usually performed better before the water reached normal temperature. The oil reaches "urban" temperature a few miles later. (C5's have oil and water temp guages).
I initially thought it was an EGR or MAF problem, hopefully more likely the former, but my main dealer says it is the turbo operating at too high pressure. I queried this saying isnt there a valve to release pressure. He said yes, but thats whats broken and isnt available seperately.
There has been a whining noise on over-run, best heard when stationary with the bonnet open, the noise has existed for a year and was queried twice while in warranty. The dealer has not yet asked Citroen about a goodwill payment (5 1/2 months out of warranty).
If a turbo is producing too high a pressure, what is the outcome of long term use? Would a rubber hose pop off before the engine self destructs? Could it cause any long term damamge to the engine?
Does this sound reasonable to anyone? I intend to get a second opinion before spending large amounts.
Thanks in advance

I visited Power Line in Shipley, Yorkshire, after getting their name from the Bosch website.
The tested the car in the garage, on the road and again in the garage after a drive. Connected computers, removed engine covers, looked under and over the car and decided that there is no problem!!
The dealer previously wiped a crankshaft sensor code from the ECU and the car has been fine since then.
Any more problems and I'll take it back to the specialist.
Thanks to everyone who has posted here.
Ben
