I have an 52 plate scenic but the interior fan only works on number 4. It doesn't matter if you are recirculating air or getting fresh air in. i have taken the facia off and looked at the rotary switch and there's nothing obvious wrong. any ideas out there?

THe resistor pack has gone. Its usually mounted on the fan casing itself, the glovebox has to come out to get access.

There are two types of resister pack used one very simple and one complicated in the simple version the bi metalic strip comes unsoldered and can easily be reapaired the other is unfortuneatly a replacement at around £60.

Our works Fiesta (nearly 200k miles) has this problem, it is on the 3rd new resistor pack, dealer reckons the fan is drawing to much load and needs replacing though it is an expensive job requiring half the dash to be removed.
