Ran out of time it seems and never got to the Lords. Whether it will be resurrected after May 5th remains to be seen....

Wot no offence re jammers? This was in the Bill to prohibit likewise graduated speeding fines and points ranging from low to high.

Host of other road safety measures to such an exent that 10 to 1 it will just be on hold.

Looking on eBay for a new unused duplicate Ford service book (I have FSH with bills but the service books has been stolen) and came across this item, being a fully stamped up Ford service book with no car details.

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=...W

Out of order or what? I know that this would not work with some makes as the service records are computerised, but how many people ring up say BMW and check these things out.

Whichever way you look at it, its dishonest.

It appears that dishonesty is OK as long as you are not adversely affected by it, at least according to some of the people posting on here!

Happy Blue!

I've seen a couple of these around now.

I'm sure they are well built, drive beautifully and are the best small executive saloon currently available, but.....

Where's the good design. Its boring to look at. Starting with the 1602 and through three or four subsequent 3-series models, each one has looked stunning when they first came out and barely aged. A 1990 3-series estate (Tourer?) looks as smart now as it did then.

Someone once described the Triumph Dolomite as the type of car that looked as though you were wearing evening dress, and by and large the 3-series could be similarly described, but the current model with its Carisma taillights looks like you should be wearing a shell suit.

The upcoming Lexus IS looks really nice and prove to be a big threat especially in the US where most car companies make their money and the fact that Lexus is the no.1 luxury brand.

Came across this excellent Hyundai (US) website when I was looking for some repair data for a Hyundai car. Its a pity more car manufacturers can't be this helpful:

Don't think Trajet is sold in US. Lots of the engine/transmission and suspension will be common with other models though, I imagine.

I've done the bottom of a rear inner door post using a spray can. Worked quite well. Would not attempt a flat panel as the matching is critical but a door post is less likely to be noticed (dark metallic blue)

Just a curiosity...

For some obscure reason I bought a replacement radio on eBay for the wife's Focus.

Then I decided to sell her original.

When I went to find the code, both radios had the same security code.

Are all Ford 5000s the same code I wonder? Read more

Can't speak for Ford, but on the Wife's Astra old Corsa we needed the code after an alternator change. We went into the local main dealer and asked at the part counter how to go about getting the code thinking we had to bring in the car or provide documentation and the guy there grabbed a scrap of paper and scribbled down a number which worked. I am guessing that it must have been a master code that the dealers use rather than trying to search for each units individual code.

Hi, can anyone please help. I have a peugeot 405 diesel, 1993. The light on the dashboard for the water trap has came on but I can't see where to drain it? I know I should just go and buy a haynes manual but thought I'd ask on here first. Many thanks, LB :o) Read more

I own a 2000/X Xantia HDi 110 with 80k on the clock. Main dealer serviced since new. Cambelt changed at last service (75,000) as I thought the recommended 100k interval was pushing my luck. I?ve used the dealer for years and up to now been v happy with them.

On Sunday pulling out of a road junction got sound like a bag of spanners. Stopped immediately and was flatbedded back to the home dealer. Now been advised the cambelt has jumped

Two issues:-

What might cause this and how far am I justified in pushing the garage for an explanation and at least a contribution to cost.

Secondly, I?m having to make the running in getting information. Had to chase yesterday for any sort of progress, told cambelt problem and that further dismantling/investigation required. No more information today, chased again to be told dismantling complicated job, lots to do including skimming head (surely that?s a reassembly issue!). I?m not happy about the level of info provided generally or any sort of hint that we?re talking a £1k plus job here.

Any comments and hints tips about tactics in handling this greatly appreciated.

Glad to be of service and that you're getting somewhere with the dealer. Does sound like some damage has been done though.

Thinking of getting one of these so I can check traffic before I head off. It's like a little screen that just shows a rough map with pointers showing traffic speed.

Anyone had any experience of these? Read more

1.6 16v Zafira club. Engine warning light is on from the start up and only flickers when going faster than 30mph. There is a notable misfire going up in the gears but not at idle/low speeds or when going about 60 - 70mph. I put my faith in a Vauxhall dealer and he has dissapointingly came up with no fault code so tried spark plugs and a fuel line clean. He has already started talking about sticky valves which I think is a bit premature. Looking through your other guys problems it seems close to a faulty EGR valve or less likely the coil pack. I would be grateful if anybody could comment on their experience if they have seen a similar fault. I can guess about 10 things that it 'might be' but am hoping for a clearer picture. Thanks in advance. Read more

Ignition coil pack is a possibility ,if not then sticky valves is not uncommon on these 16v engines.Run engine with a suitable engine flush, drain & refill with good quality synthetic oil.(vauxhall oil seems to be the best value)
