reprogram keycard on megane 2003 - bauzo
Hi all - I have lost one of the keycards for my 2003 megane and I have been quoted a figre of approx. 120 quid to have a new one ordered and replaced by the local renault dealer. I have also found out I can buy a brand new card on ebay for a tenner. The question is: how do I get it programmed? Can anyone shed any light? Cheers, bauzo.

Firstly, your Ebay £10 card is either duff or second hand. A second hand renault keycard CANNOT be reprogramed to another car.

Only a renault dealer can programe in a new keycard, or someone who has a "clip"

A "clip" is the renault portable diagnostic tool that plugs in the ODBII port. (the port is behind the ashtray)

Might you be able to claim it back on your Hosehold Insurance?

Depends on what level of cover you have, but if you have cover for possessions away from the home, then if you lost the keycard that was in your jacket - which was then subsequently 'stolen' from the Public Toilets where you had hung it to wash your hands or you took off your jacket in the Public Square, walked away, only to return moments later and find it is not there - then your Home Insurance might help?

I don't have cover for this eventuality - I wont pay the extra premium for this cover though.
