Just got a Pug 307, 2 years old but due to a complete idiot I bought it off the warranty has been invalidated (didnt bother with the 6k service!!!), I have read on this site about the problem with the indicators, self cancelling not acting correctly etc, have noticed that this is happening with my motor, if I indicate and do a sharp right, when I straighten up the indicators have flipped themselves over to indicating left, I think this is the problem that has been fixed under warranty by Pug. Question being, despite the lack of warranty should I/can I insist that the dealer fixes this free of charge, obviously it has nothing to do with the engine so warranty invalidity should be, well invalid, do Pug have to deal with this issue?
I can live with it, cant vouch for the wife not having a panic attck when this happens to her though!
Cheers all

So whose your favourite unashamed car nut from the last hundred years of motoring?
Possibilities are endless, it could be Enzo Ferrari or Ferdinand Porsche or from more recent times maybe Bob Lutz or Richard Parry-Jones.
My favourite is Michael Schumacher.

Just so this hateful Hund of a car could appear around the world."
my point is, and i suspect you got it, is that british engineering on the whole isn't up to the standards set by the germans or the japanese.
imagine it is 1977. you're paid to drive round the world in either a new nicely run-in austin allegro or a 10 year old vw beetle -which would you take?
it's 2005 - same trip - option toyota landcruiser or landrover discovery?
i would bet you my house, my pension and my dog that the allegro and the landrover would be more unreliable.
Sister and BiL have a C3 Diesel and Toyota Picnic Diesel. Due to both kids being in late teens and family rarely out in car together, they want to sell the Picnic (see classifieds) and trade right down to a C2 Diesel. This will also be used for teaching them to drive.
Anyone any experience of C2, what to look for, what specs to get? Any problems with them? HJ's CBCB says they are too new for any feedback yet and I can't recollect seeing any discussions on them in the forums?
Re the C2, as they like their C3 they are adamant thats the car they want. Any feedback? Read more
To find out the day your Citroen was made you need the build date code which is on the sticker on the drivers door frame.
To decode it, search for "orga citroen" in google.
Secondly, about these vouchers, I don't know the elegibility for receiving some, but a call to another dealer or Citroen head office on 0870 606 9000 wouldn't harm. Dad threw his in the bin, I got a call from my local dealer asking if I had received any.
Having recently acquired a retail business, I am increasingly being asked to deliver low value (£20/£40) bulky items after work.Depreciation on my 2.4d VW Transorter is minimal after 7 years, but it still requires fuel and servicing!I do not wish to turn away custom, but I refuse to deliver free of charge. My actual fuel cost is around 13p per mile, but wear & tear have to be taken into consideration, so I propose to charge 30p per mile, which includes my time.
Are there any websites which give guidelines as to average running costs, or a template which I can use to work out mine?
Suggestions/opinions please.

Pretend you're an MP and cop 57.7p per mile.
I have an "unfinished project" taking up space. SWMBO has decided it has to go. What is the score with scrap these days Do Scrappies pay or do I have to pay to scrap. No problem with transporting it - it is already on a trailer and ready to hitch up to the the Landie. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance. Read more
Agreed totally, GB - these people realy are stupid, aren't they.
Fortunately for me, colleague Boris was about this morning and hid the offending items.
A hard drive problem.
My PC runs WinXP (SP2 installed) with a 40Mb HDD partitioned as C, D and E drives. It's a Medion and came that way. No problem for a couple of years, but now on bootup, I get an error message to the effect that Drive D needs "checking for consistency" and (unless I override it) it then runs a disc check before declaring all OK. NTFS file system.
I have tried everything from a disk defrag to a complete erase and reinstall using the recovery disc. It seems to me unlikely to be a physical fault on the disc, but perhaps a discombobulation of the NTFS file structure which, presumably, is left intact by the recovery process.
Any idea, please? Read more
After measuring the temperature of the hard drives (~45°C, which is around 10°C lower than Maxtor said was the max temp they can reliably run at) I've decided to fit an 80 mm case fan as the mounting bracket and the socket on the motherboard were already there.
Pc is now slightly noiser, but hopefully with the increased airflow through the system, should cool it down a bit more. Failing that, I'll add a fan directly onto the hard drive as well.
My Vectra C (new shape) is now out of warranty . It has suddenly got a terrible squeak squeak noise from the rear nearside . I know its that side as when i push on each rear corner thats the side thats squeaking .Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be , as its driving me mad , especially when driving down a bumpyish road and all i hear with the windows open is squeak squeak squeak over the bumps . The shock absorbers look fine .Someone said it could be a dry bush ????? And I should spray them with WD40 , but then again someone told me that WD40 will rot the rubber bushes . Please help . The suspension on my VectraC had a squeaky rear end when I first bought it. Dealer put it down to being stood around for a little while before I bought it. Anyway, into the workshops for some lubrication of the joints resulted in no more squeaks. Not sure what they oiled though - sorry.
I did overhear a conversation between mechanic and service manager asking if a modified part (due to a recall) had already been fitted to the suspension. Apparantly it had been.
Oh, btw, WD40 won't rot the rubbers, but you'll probably find it's only a temporary cure to the squeak.
Hi guys,
I like to drive quite 'adventurously', and I'm just wondering how much this affects the life/condition of the engine.
At the moment, I change the oil every 5000 miles, always let the engine warm up before really revving it, and drive normally for a bit afterwards to help it cool down.
But of course, car engines aren't race engines and can't simply be ripped apart after every drive and rebuilt!
If there's anything else I can do, let me know! Just until I get a car you don't need to rev hard to get a smile on your face! Read more
"manufacturers cost cutting on key components, particularly French cars, where excessive labour costs plus high social charges make these well conceived designs a high mileage nightmare"
Really?? There are a fair few PSA XUD engines around that might disagree with you. My last two did 170k and 140 k without a spanner being laid on either engine except for cambelt and glowplug changes. When last heard of the 170k one had done over 200k and still going strong.
Below is a post from someone else which I have used before to illustrate the longevity of PSA diesels.

I drive a BX diesel which I use as a taxi. It's my 5th. BX 19 diesel & all gave me the greatest satisfaction in both reliability & economy. I still have my 1987 BX which I cannibalise for spares, not that I need many. It was retired for 'scrap' after a crash @ 350,000 miles. It's replacement was sold off for less than the value of its parts @ 450,000 miles; one has been retired to my driveway @ 740,000miles & my current workhorse is now @ 380,000 miles. I've never changed a wheel-bearing, only one gearbox and a few suspension bits; one major engine overhaul; two head-jobs but never a tow-home failure [unless you count the one time I let the cam-belt snap!].
I have a 2002 307 with the RB3 radio cassette player, have just got hold of a Baupunkt IDC A09 CD changer which I know is the exact model used in the higher spec motors than mine, my question is, will there be some 'specialist' connections required to connect the cd to the radio, I am wondering whether Peugeot will have modified the RB3 so that customers have to buy the CD changer through there dealers (at around £250)? Any help would be most appreciated.

On the BBC News yesterday there was a warning of roadworks on the M2 at Faversham starting tomorrow and which are expected to cause serious delays.
Checked on the Highways Agency and - NOTHING.
Don't they now what is happening on their own motorway network?

According to various motoring forum websites Peugeot was aware of this particular problem on the 307 and was supposed to have introduced a new part.
Here's one link on the subject contributed by driving instructors (!):
