Ok here goes.
Friends mum died some months ago and my friend now has her 2004 Micra. She dosen't want it and has asked me to sell it for her. Don't know how to value it. Its May 04 5 door 1.2 S in metallic blue and 875 yes 875 miles on it. CD electric windows remote locking etc. Is £5000 too optimistic? Thanks Read more
I feel a bit cheap for asking but what do you think about this. My local Renault dealer will give me a £3400 discount on a Grand Scenic 1.9DCi, which I think is a terrific deal. It outdoes most of the brokers and seriously undercuts the whatcar target. I can get it a bit cheaper by using a broker that sells new but pre-registered cars. The broker also handles the ££, not a franchised dealer. I think there are risks / harassment with this approach. How much cheaper do you think a pre-registered new car needs to be compared to its discounted franchised equivalent?

I too have a scenic from Motorprovider, I was first registered keeper brand new in Britain and had 3 yrs warranty, Top people before and after I collected it, car was instock and paid when I collected it. As per aftersales / warranty work it has 3 years warranty as i live 100 miles from motorprovider i can take it to any renault dealer. so as for the main dealers i am not paying you £4000 more for the same thing.
Do all oil filters share the same mounting ? If they do, is there any benefit in using an oil filter from a 2 litre mondeo on a 1 litre fiesta for example ? Read more
OEM filters semm to be getting smaller, not larger. The Subaru one for my Legacy is now about 2/3 the size it was, yet the change interval on a new car has gone from 7500 miles to 10k.
I keep my car in the open and, afer four years, the roof, door and window seals are looking green and dried. Can anyone recommend a suitable treatment please? Read more

Hi,
I have a Renault Megane Diesel 1.9td - 1997 model.
I was noticed slight smoke coming from the engine after a long journey. When I took a look, the coolant tank was completely empty, (was checked a few weeks ago and was okay).
My questions are...
I've obviously lost the coolant "somewhere" - any suggestions where to look. The pipes look okay - the radiator is a sealed unit so I'm not sure how to check this is okay.
The oil looks okay, (no mayo), so "hoping" there hasn't been a head gasket failure. Not sure how to check the pump either.
I've filled up the expansion tank again but I believe I need to bleed the cooling system via "bleeding nipples". Any ideas where these are on a Megane.
Any advise appreciated. Read more
Some Meganes have bolted on plastic thermostat housings that eventually can leak under stress. Give the engine a good rev when the engine is hot with the bonnet up and look for water. Stand back whilst doing this as hot water hurts!
I have a 2001 BMW 325 Cab.
Going over uneven road (raised ironworks, minor bumps and the ever increasing number of sleeping policemen) there is a rattle which appears to come from offside rear of the boot. It only happens as the offside rear wheel goes over the uneven road. The nearside rear does not cause any noise.
We (me and garage) have stripped out the boot leaving nothing loose to cause rattle. Also took battery out to check if housing was secure, which it was. Garage suggested leave car with them to strip down boot. Had not got time and do not want to spend fortune on garage costs that are mechanical.
Has anyone had similar problems?

Thanks for replies.
Just found a BMW forum site and it seems this is a problem that has occured on new vehicles where the shock assembly needed to be tightened.
Looks like you were right, the shocks need checking.
sorry to open a new thread but didnt think it right to hijack your thread.

They told me that they couldnt give me a price for
my car until jan as the price would be different.
This seems to be standard practice at MINI dealers - my brother in law recently bought a new MINI (ex demo) but still had to wait six weeks. They would give him a price "on the day", rather than at order for his M reg Audi 80, which i thought was odd.
He got £500 for it, so it wasn't all bad.
i recently had an attempt to get into my mondeo by someone using tin snips on my window trims.
these are aluminium coated in plastic.once bent or cut i cannot get them back into their original shape which causes wind whistle!
is there anywhere that will stock these as ford are goin to charge me £34 for each one(i need both passenger and drivers side trims)
or does anyone know the parts number for them.
thanks in advance for any help

I've got a 2001 MK3 Mondeo 1.8 Zetec that has recently scared me silly!
3 times now, when I've pressed the brake pedal, it hits the floor before the ABS kicks in and I finally start to slow down. Every other time it is fine. 2 of the times were within 200 yards of my home, but the third one was about 10 minuted into my daily commute.
I have no warning that it is going to happen other than the pedal goes long and I don't slow down.
Any ideas?

A UK manufacturer of 4x4 vehicles has the same problem with its mid range vehicle. The problem is very small amounts of plastic swarf in the brake master cylinder. As long as this swarf just floats around in the fluid nothing untoward happens. But the moment a piece gets stuck between the edge of the piston seal and cylinder bore, BANG - pedal goes to floor and no braking. The cure is a new master cylinder. Your Mundano could have the same problem. Trouble is, you're out of warranty now. Try and see if you get any joy from the dealer, otherwise dismantle and re-seal your master cylinder.

Consider putting 'sale due to berievement' in the ad. I apologies if I sound insensitive, but no one can argue that you don't have a genuine reason for sale.
