Yes, Miganes and Scinics!
In this week's HJ Telegraph column on the net, you refer to the Renaults as such...

It's that time of year again, but a new problem for me is the fear of ripping apart frozen door rubber.
Any preventative tips? Read more
I can vouch for silicone spray, available from most motorist shops. Spray it on, wipe it off and it lasts a good few weeks at least.
If any Backroomers are at Blackbushe this Monday, I'd be interested to know how much the Blue Punto 60SX Reg. S922 EWT goes through for.
Thanks in advance.

My first diesel very impressed. Would like to know whether I follow same advice as for petrol in regards to oil changes(every 6k), and using Shell or Texaco for fillups?? Any one tried BP ultimate? Is it worth the extra?
Also a friend of mine recommends putting a K&N filter kit on to improve performance and economy. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks Read more
Mine's a Fusion TDCi - virtually the same.
There's lots of conflicting advice about oil change intervals and branded fuels, and the advice applies as much or as little to the Fiesta TDCi as another other car. Check out the Forum Search facility.
For what its worth, I choose to buy the cheapest diesel from whatever source (usually supermarket), and will buy Ford's own brand oil (Formula E 5w-30), own brand filters and own brand antifreeze as per the handbook. The recommended oil change interval is 12,500 miles or 1 year, which I will keep to while the car is under its 3-year warranty.

Hi can any one tell me if i am thinking right?
I have had the head off my 2.0 omega ecotech engine and also removed the valves etc.
I removed the cam shafts etc, now rebuilding it all have put head back etc,
The book says set the crank shaft to 60% BTDC and sprokets but i found when re installng the cam shafts that i could not get the caps back on so had to turn the cam till would go on,,
I realise i must have done something wrong but have got it all on and prior to taking all this apart i marked the sprokets with tip ex but have installed it all back with those marks in line again, I have closed it all down and put the timing belt back on, I have turned the engine over with a socket and there is no resistance so assume all is ok,
Am i right in saying if it turns over with no resistance or knocking all is ok? Read more
Any thoughts on this vehicle as I am considering buying one

Just to let you know, the Carisma is being replaced by the Lancer next summer.
If you look on the Mitsubishi Australia web site you can see that there are some nice varients of the Lancer, and hopefuly with their EVO knowledge it will be a very good drive.
Hello Room
I am considering purchasing an 18 month old BMW 330Diesel Sport. I love the 6 cylinder diesel engine and the power and handling are arguably the best there is. I am looking to purchase through an approved BM franchise as I have seen too many examples of dodgy BMs in the private press. Now comes the question:
I have seen second hand prices start to fall at 3 of my local dealers, as an example a May 2003 330d Sprt Saloon with 15k on the clock recently took a 2k discount from the advertised 27k to 25k. Can I expect more price drops based on the quiet market? When is the best time to do a deal with a desparate BMW rep in the next 2 months. How much impact will the soon to be released new 3 series have on the existing stock?
What do you think, any thoughts, should I wait for the next set of price drops?....I need to buy a car before the end of the year.

Is fitting a Fiat dealer purchased radio/CD player to my wife's new shape Punto (for Christmas) as simple as pulling out the old Radio/Cassette one and pushing in the replacement?
Or is it more complicated than that please? Read more
Mondeo Mk 2 estate, '97R 104k miles. When my screen washers wouldn't work yesterday, I assumed it was ice. However, when I got home and topped up the reservoir with water/additive, I found that foaming water was pouring from under the front wing when the pump was operated. It looks as though the reservoir had been emptied, not iced!
There is no water loss when the pump is not operating so I guess that the reservoir is OK but the pipe has been damaged or detached from the pump.
Has anyone experienced this problem, and is it difficult to fix? I fear that the reservoir is in an unaccessible position somewhere behind the wing! Many thanks. Waino.

In conclusion to this one, I couldn't find any spaces bit enough for a spider to crawl through, let alone get my great mitts into. I gave in and took the car to my local independent chap who cleared the system and refixed the pipes with a couple of clips. The cost was an hours labour. Thanks to all for comments.
I recently road tested a Mazda 6. The procedure was: go into showroom, give them driving licence and passport, which they photocopied, sign a simple form stating that I'd pay speeding/parking fines, etc, and away I go with SWMBO and two kids in back.
Wifey and I went today to sort out same in Mondeo with my local Ford Dealership.
"No, sir, I'll have to come with you".
"But there are four of us"
"Ah, Sir, it's a five seater"
"But that means my wife will be sitting in the back between the car seats. Also, she won't get a chace to drive because I can't fit in that gap"
"Well, then, Sir, I'll go for a drive with her, then with you"
"But we want to try it for a couple of hours - try in on the motorway, round town, along a B road; try to get some idea of whether we'd like to live with it"
"Can't do it, Sir"
"Honestly?"
"There is one way, Sir. What you do is call us a few days before you want to go. We'll give you the registration number, then you call your insurance company and set up your own insurance, at your own cost. Then, come in, show us your insurance document and you can borrow it for a couple of hours"
"You're joking"
"No, Sir"
"Well, we're not going to be buying a car from you, then"
"I'm sorry to hear that, Sir"
"Cheerio"

We have been looking at various cars over the last week or so. Quite a varied experience really. Both times we went to the local Ford dealer the salesman was straight over to us; at one Honda place there were no cars in the showroom and no salesmen either - the one we did rustle up didn't look happy to be dragged outside to look at cars. At another Honda dealer we were offered a test drive of a nice new Accord or CR-V on the spot; I only declinced cos it was getting a bit dark. Audi were immediately attentive and Volvo were similar. VW were awful - I wandered around the showroom opening cars for ages and was studiously ignored. I have found that going with my wife normally results in much more attentive salesmen (no funny comments: I guess it is because a couple appear to be more serious buyers than a bloke on his own).
Only thing we need to do now is decide what to buy: Passat, Accord or Mondeo. A varied list: would like an Accord but will probably spend less dosh on a Mondeo.

The official name for it is 'disqwertya'.
