It's that time of year again, but a new problem for me is the fear of ripping apart frozen door rubber.
Any preventative tips?

As per Pugugly - Vasaline works for me.

Some time ago I bought a spray of silicone door seal lubricant (Halfords brand I believe) which I gave to my son recently. The front doors on his Punto were sticking badly. It seems to have cured the problem and has the advantage of leaving no sticky residue.

before you apply either silicon or vaseline to rubber, read

or try a google search for "vaseline rubber damage".

Does anyone know what the Autoglym product that steve.o refers to in the second thread might be?

As a further complication, the outer rubber door seals on the Mundano have a furry surface, almost like a very short pile velvet. Anyone treated these successfully?

A techie at AFN in Reading recommended talcum powder when I had this problem. Just sprinkle a bit in a duster and wipe it over the dry rubber then dust off the excess. Worked a treat and no greasy residue.

I can vouch for silicone spray, available from most motorist shops. Spray it on, wipe it off and it lasts a good few weeks at least.
