Has anyone seen the new Citroen C4 advert?
It was on Channel 4 at about 19.45
The car 'transforms' into a robot and starts dancing.
I thought it was great!

"got to war, survive, get a ford"
Spot on citroenian. first thing that crossed my mind too.
Typical over sentimental american slushyness.
We are pregnant (pc!!!) and have a MK4 Escort Cabby. We have been told that there is not a child seat available for the rear, due to there only being lap belts. Is there a way to fit proper belts in the rear or to convert lap belts some way? Have to decide by mid December or she'll have to go.(The wife of course...couldn't lose the cabby!!!) Read more
In a couple of years your child will have outgrown the baby-seat's own harness and you'll need more of a booster cushion (although probably still with a backrest) and it's this type which need a 3 point system. Plenty of time to have found a replacement car which hopefully fits your needs.
Whatever seat you chose, make sure you check it for yourself in the car before buying to verify that the belts are long enough etc, when baby seats are rear facing they can need an extremely long seat belt!
No help needed just to inform any one with similar problems this could be the answer. For some time I have had an annoying and worrying knock from the front offside suspension on my scenic 2.This occured fairly randomly but usualy when changing direction from forward to reverse or reverse to forward.I finaly found the problem after checking every nut / bolt / ball joint on the front suspension. It was both bolts fixing the sub frame ( frame that supports the lower wish bone to the vehicle under the drivers feet area)were not tight. This has also curred a minor pull to the right, which has been on the vehicle since new, but unfixable by the renault garage.I might add this pull to the right was not a major problem just a mystery. So it would seem that these fixings were not tight from when the vehicle was manufactured.

Thanks for that rustbucket, as a Scenic owner I will bear it in mind.
Hello everyone,
The management and I are looking for a mondeo size estate (we hired a mondeo for a weekend and thought it was pretty good), and wondered if any of you have experience of the toyota avensis "tourer" D4D. Especially grateful if you have thoughts of how comfortable it is for long journeys and how noisey is it when under load and when cruising.
Would anyone know what is the avensis D4D gearing in fifth gear? A mondeo doing 35mph/1000rpm sounds good - and more relaxed than the 1.8lx that we hired which was about 25mph/1000rpm IIRC.
many thanks for any thoughts and info. Read more
27.5Mph/1000rpm in my 52 plate old shape D4D.
If you are after a torquey engine, the 120Bhp 1.9Dci unit in SWMBO Renault Megane is excellent. One of the best I have driven.
Also, have you considered a 2.0d X type estate? Go have a test drive.
Not sure whether this is a discussion item or a technical question but here goes..
I have a Ford Focus 1.8Tddi (2002) which is not covered by any warranty (Fords has expired as non-Ford parts have been used in servicing).
The problem is I get a fanbelt squeak from cold, I've checked all the pulleys and put a new belt on etc but to no avail. I was just about to give up and live with it until I read a Ford TSB that applied to my car that described this fault exactly. It basically means the aircon pump bracket needs to be re-aligned - not a job I want to do myself.
My question is, would a Ford dealer carry out this job free as it is covered by a TSB or am I still liable for cost as theres no warranty? If so I would rather use a local garage.
Ironically my wife has an older Focus which also has a different fault that is covered by a TSB as well!

Thanks for all your comments, looks like you've confirmed what I suspected anyway.
Where did I put that Haynes manual.....
I'm thinking of replacing my Volvo V70 and have had a look at a Honda Accord Tourer. Impressed with the car but not the lack of any spare wheel - all you get is a can of sealant and a compressor. It is apparently possible to get a space saver spare but I'd prefer a proper one. Does anyone know if a full size wheel will fit in the spare wheel well.
Any help appreciated

Hi all, I will shortly need four new tyres. Does anyone have recommendations for:
a) Tyre manufacturer/model. The tyres are fairly large (the rear ones are 255/35-18)and if possible I would like to increase the levels of ride comfort and decrease the levels of noise I get from the Bridgestones that are on at the moment.
b)Supplier/fitter. Somewhere in Essex/Kent/Sussex/Surrey. I am not at all keen to use regular fast-fit places.
Many thanks. Mods - wasn't sure where to put this posting. If it's Technical, please move it.

Typical Kwikfit pricing though! Currently paying around £ 65 in Bracknell or Chatham for the same fully fitted, valve & balance.
One of the reasons INEVER use Kwikfit!

Not really a 'new' topic. Flap valve control motor as referred to by LeePower 22Aug04.
Thanks Lee, for that info. Located and removed same. Will try 'scrappies' next week - meanwhile a Q or 2.
When refitting, is there a specific position for the external drive (the semi-circular toothed drive) in relation to the position of the actual flap valve. Assuming the flap valve to be in the open position, should the drive on the motor be fully at left or fully at right or central?
Or does the drive 'sort itself out'
I intend to get the manual but in the meantime tried the local library. Only manual available was 99 on. Looked uder ventilation (section 3, I think) but there was no reference at all to the flap valve, so I looked in Citroens of a similar year but not one refered to the flap valve -- that I could find.
So I thought I'd come back to the source of real experience.
Regards

Thanks DL.
Hoped it might be something like that. I found a unit at the Scrappy (well, the eight one actually). After I struggled it out I saw that it was a two-wire rather than a 3-wire so I swapped the plastic gears.
Would it have functioned as a 2-wire?
hi i own a rover 200 hatchback and recently me and my car had a difference of opinion. this resulted in a ruined piston two cracked valves and a scored head in total about a grand and bit worth of damage. i dont want to have to scrap my car as it is worth far more than that, do you think it would be advisable to buy a new engine or repair my exsisting one. the engine is a 1.4 twin cam 16v injection. Supply and fit for £200? I couldn't/wouldn't fit it for that!

On the same subject, im having problems with my keypad for the immobiliser. It seems that i need to press the keys with the force of a baby elephant to get them to react, has anyone else had this problem or do you know if its easily solved?
