I was waiting for my mum in the car before and saw a Volvo V50 drive in. I'd never seen one in the flesh before so I sat up to get a better look. As it drove towards me I thought how nice the front looked; a little menacing but nice then I saw the sides and back. It does look...nice - but that's all. The front looked so promsing but the rest of it was just...nice.
Sorry

Tom I agree as well.couldnt put it better myself.
I am well aware that these have a repuation for seizing, but can anyone tell me what seizes?
I have the nearside one sat on the bench and the piston is moving freely, but the handbrake actuator appears tightly seized in the body of the caliper. How much free movement is to be expected, is it affected by the position of the piston?
Any tips on how to free up? Is this the normal terminal failure mode?
Thanks,in anticipation! I hope for an answer while I eat my lunch!
Any other advice?

It?s this great new form of transport. You create a vehicle with three or, more likely four or more wheels, and power it with a motor of some sort that, if it?s powerful enough, could make the vehicle travel really quite fast ? perhaps a mile a minute or more. The vehicle would have a passenger cell and maybe another for luggage and stuff.
It would be a great way of enabling people to move about, over great distances if need be, with all sorts of paraphernalia. And suitably designed, this type of vehicle could carry heavy loads of goods as well.
A ?driver? using suitable devices would control the speed and direction of the vehicles, which would run along the ordinary roads. Some sort of code of conduct would be required to ensure chaos didn?t reign.
Yeah, great idea but:
· Entrust the control of these vehicles, with their huge capacity for destruction and mayhem, to humans instead of some guided system like a railway? No way.
· They would come far to close to pedestrians, unless there were an effective physical barrier to separate this ?traffic? from people.
· They would pass far too closely to each other for safety, even if vehicles going in one direction were all on the same side of the road. Imagine, a closing speed of, say 60mph in towns and villages, or even at 120mph on the open road? Unthinkable.
The authorities would never allow it. And people would think it?s far too dangerous. Look how we all view railway safety. That?s already brilliant but can never be good enough. This ?road vehicles? idea is a non-starter.

No - much better to adopt a more meritocratic approach - remember this is New Britain under New Labour.

Hi all, need help, i am looking to buy a stolen/recovered vehicle, car in question is an Audi TT, the car is advertised as unrecorded on the abi register, does this mean that there is no record what so ever of it being stolen/recovered?
Also are ther different registers? I am very confused, lease help!
If i do a HPI check, will it come up stolen/rec? Read more
I'd be a little suspicious.
If it's not on the register, then why is the fact mentioned at all. It will only appear if the insurance company has paid out on it as a total loss.
Pay for the HPI check - play safe.
Hi All,
My Wife\'s Citroen Xsara 1.4 forte (Jan 2000) exhaust has just started to blow.
I was just going to get the garage to look at it and change the damaged part eg back box etc but my Father in Law says you might as well change the whole system as soon as you change one part the other parts will start to go. Is this true!
I thought just changing the damaged part would be sufficent.
Any one have any thoughts on this.
Cheers

Depends too how long you intend to keep the car. If you\'re holding onto it for the long haul, it\'s probably best to do the whole system (from cat back) If you just want to get through an MOT or intend changing soon a part repair could be OK.
My sister\'s 1995 Xantia exhaust had to be replaced a couple of weeks ago. It was the original one! Last April (2003) the back box looked pretty ropey - the outer layer of metal had fractured and was hanging off. I \'wound\' it off like a sardine tin to tidy it up for the MOT (it wasn\'t actually burst) It passed with flying colours. At the time, I advised sister that its days were numbered. This April, she took it back to me to check before MOT and this time there were a few pinholes on the back box and precedimg pipe.Because we also had to put on a couple of drop arms and a steering rack boot, we decided to try a bandage on the exhaust. Incredibly, it passed again and soldiered on until early May.
I\'ve always found Cit exhausts pretty good.

..There's a major problem with the suspension...it creaks and bangs...big style...the salesmen and mechanics will make out you are nuts...Vauxhall are well aware and the field remedy code is 1563.....take them back people.. and get it done before a whole generation of 2nd hand users are faced with the problem out of warranty Read more
I can confirm that all our 3.2 Response cars have suspension that makes alarming noises. I thought that something had snapped when I first heard it. Combined with the indicators and hatch locking system, another reason to avoid.
I've had 2 cars chipped by upsolute and have been very impressed by the improvement. The upgrade isn't detectable by diagnostics.
Upsolute will even visit you at home to do the job.
cost was ~£300
