I own a 2 year renault clio expression, done 29000 miles and has service history with renault. This week my rear brakes failed due to the brake shoes coming loose and disintegrating within the wheel. The dust from the shoes built up and jammed my wheels up. When I took it to the dealer at first they fited a new clutch. when the car jammed again the AA towed the car to the dealer. First question?
Should the brake shoes break up like that on a 2 year old car and is is classed a wear and tear or mechanical failure. I am disputing this with the dealer. They say it is not covered by the warranty.
2nd question?
Having taken the car in to do repairs and fitting a new clutch instead of the brakes how mad should i be that they have returned a car to me that is dangerous to drive. Or Am I getting too emotional
Please give me your views I am at my wits end

Hi all,
My GF is about to buy an E46 318Ci from a small dealer, and he's offering RAC warranty (Gold package, 2 years) with it. Just wondering if anyone's had experience of this? Also, while I'm here, the car is that kind of mauve metallic and not leather- will this ruin the resale potential? It seems reasonably priced at £12k (V plate, 60k miles), and she's been looking for a while.
TIA,
Alex.

I recall using an online part finding service that I found here. But I made no record of it and can't find it now. Can anyone help? Specifically, I am looking for a replacement rear bumper for a 1992 Toyota Camry.

Keep it - have used a few times in the last year, and although I have ended up with the same supplier, I got a few calls each time, with various offers and no hassle / pressure.

I have recently started to research my family history (both maternal and paternal). So far the usual illegitimacies, orphanages, workhouses etc have surfaced. Most of the immediate family emanated from South East London and, prior to that, Ireland.
I am interested in obtaining the Victorian equivalent of a London A to Z or any other type of street maps particularly of South East and the East End of London, Anything that covers from the mid 1800's to the mid-1900's would be wonderful. I can then track the families' various residences.
Someone out there just might have said street map curling up in the garden shed so if anyone can assist with advice or supply I would be most grateful.

Have just returned from a coach trip holiday to Italy. We-ell, it is what some of we masochists do. We stopped at a motorway pit stop in France for breakfast after which we rejoined the coach, which then began to pull away and head for the slip road to access the motorway.
I just happened to be looking straight ahead through the windscreen as we moved down a one-way service road. Having noticed large white arrows pointing in the direction from which we came I glanced right just in time to a large no-entry sign. I yelled out to the driver that he was going the wrong way and had passed a no-entry sign.
Not a word came in response. He continued slowly rounding a left-hand curve with the coach lurching alternatively up and down both kerbs. Oi, Chruchill, have I spotted this morning’s deliberate error, I called out to the driver? Again, no response. I then decided that I had when I looked out of a right hand window and saw a farmer with tractor who had stopped in his tracks and was watching in amazement whilst at the same time screwing in his left forefinger slowly and deliberately at his temple.
The coach then meandered back onto the complex, found it’s way on to the correct slip-road and we continued on our way with me mouthing to my sister that thank gawd I had been able to take out travel insurance only two hours before we left home.
The subsequent explanation from the driver – none.

On my Golf mk2 Driver,G reg, there are two inner lights, inbetween the outer headlights. They dont appear to work, are they a just a visual gimick,or are they,as a friend told me,some kind of foglights?Ive noticed the foglight switch has two positions on it,but it has no effect on those inner lights. If they are supposed to work, any ideas why they are not? they're full beam lights, drivers, gtds and gtis came with the four lamp grill the inner two being assistance for the main beam on the outer lamps. ie with full beam you'll have four lights on.
check the loom for the inner lamps is there and that your car is a driver rather than a gl with a bodykit. each inner lamp is on a different fuse so could be fuses, bulbs or wiring

Some bird has done it's business all over my bonnet and low and behold it has stained the paintword. I jet washed it all off but it seems to have burnt into the paint work leaving an inground mark in the paint, just like a water mark.
Is there anyway to get this off or is it too late. The car is more or less brand new. A3 FSI Sport. Black metallic. Read more
Excellent post topaktas, made me LOL...
Hello everyone
I have a question which doesn't really relate to me - I'm just interested.
Just before I bought my Mark 4 Fiesta, it had a new engine put in of the 1.25 ZeteC S variety. God knows what was in it before.
My friend has the same car but has had a 1.6 put in his (presumably an Escort engine) and I was wondering how difficult it is to change engines in a car. I don't know myself because mine was already done before I bought it.
Is it just a case of pulling the old one out,and whacking the new one in or is it more technical (I have a feeling it may) and how expensive is it to buy an engine?
I understand it would vary from car to car and before anyone panics, I'm not on about putting a 2.5 V6 in there - I'm not swapping the engine at all - I'm just curious
Many thanks

Insuracne companies take different views som charge almost nothing with engine conversions it all depends.
2.0 liter Nova and corsas are now so common than some yound/ specialist insurers include them in there normal list of cars.

The coils are another infamous problem of the 1.2 usual the ECU updated maps etc need uploading as well.
I would't get rid of the car there very safe cars the Clios.
Try another delearship though you will find a better one and complian to renault uk they arn't very happy with poorly performing dealers and dealers hate to think of them coming round causing them problems as they can loose the franchise.
