An accident management firm are forcing me to buy a new car - is this fair?

I was involved in a no fault accident. I took my claim to an accident management company, they gave me a hire vehicle and all was well. My car was written off as Cat N and I was offered a settlement from the third party with the option to buy back my car. I accepted to buy back my car, but then the accident management company told me I have to buy a new car and send them the logbook for proof. I explained that I was buying my car back and that I did not want to buy a new car. The accident management company told me if I do not buy a new car, I will be liable for the cost of my hire vehicle. They have given me a week to buy a new car or they said they'll be sending the bill for the 23 days I've been hiring a car. Can they do this?

That's absolute rubbish. You don't need to do any of what they have said. You are entitled to the loss of use of your vehicle until which point you have received the settlement. You are generally allowed three or four days of hire afterwards to obtain another vehicle. That does not mean you have to, it's up to you what you do with your settlement and car. The claims management company are providing incorrect advice and are and trying to force you to carry out an action against your will.
