Road Wars - police tape speedo accurate? 29 Jan 2009 (Forum)
They weren't flashing past as you would expect if they had been going at about half the speed - if they had been doing say 70, then I would have estimated the police car's speed as 80 max. The commentary mentioned that the police video evidence had helped result in a lengthy sentence for the speeding driver (or words to that effect). Is it possible that the camera's speedo hadn't being correctly calibrated, or become un-calibrated? -

Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 1997 1.9 Black oil in the Coolant reservoir. 19 Jul 2008 (Forum)
My car temp reaches normally 75~85 in the city. When I am on auto routes and speed of 120~130 km/hr the temp drops to 70.The max temp in the car as per the need is 110 degree centigrade. Can any body tell me what can be the problem.?When I see the manual of Turbo Xantia it shows hydraulics oil reservoir tank at the extreme left near the head light..is it true.May be I am confusing it with the coolant reservoir. -
Rover 400 (1995 - 1999) - 95 1600 (Honda ?) leaking oil 25 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I have only had the car for a number of weeks and rely heavily on it to take my children to school otherwise it would take me 1hr 30mins one way . The mechanic who sold me the car has checked everything and said all oil levels are to max and ok . The oil colour I saw is like a rusty red although this could suppose be the oil mixed with rust .......HELP Obviously not read the small print on posting or Sex Pics sticky :-) -
Just Desert 18 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Friday night, nose to tail traffic on M4/M5 interchange Bristol. One very aggressive Audi TT driver uses every last inch of outside lane to gain max advantage over the queue, seriously hacking off large truck behind him before diving in front of me at the very last moment. TT driver and truck exchange horns, guestures and various unprintable expeletives until they are out of earshot of each other, much to the amusment of myself and my mate. -
Recommendation challenge 1 Aug 2006 (Forum)
petrol as diesel costs more these days but do you get more for your money from diesel? 1.4 or whatever is the max to stay in cheaper tax bracket something with a bit of character possibly, ie not something you'd be embarrased to drive a member of the opp. sex in! reliable economical electric windows sunroof central locking budget is up to approx £2500 Don't know what else is important so will go with above, does anything spring to mind apart from fanciful wishful thinking on my part? -
Jaguar X-type or which? 30 May 2006 (Forum)
I was setting my eyes on the high mileage Jaguar x-types which are on Auto trader, or Mercedes C clas or E class. My budget is a max of 8 grand..Any ideas.I really dont mind high mileages as long as the car in good condition because im not buying to keep it for life..a few years and i will pass it on and move to another. Are those Jags on Auto trader going for 5grand to 8grand any good?? -
Mondeo TDCi Oil Level 2 May 2006 (Forum)
The dipstick is a wire type with a plastic gauge piece at the end. The whole of the plastic gauge part is covered in oil when dipped, well over the max mark, and I'm pretty sure the dipstick is coming out without dragging on the sides of the tube. I've dipped it whilst stone cold and it's parked on the level. The handbook doesn't specify the best time to dip, should I only dip after the engine has been run after waiting for a couple of minutes? -
Towing Caravans 12 Aug 2004 (Forum)
"It follows, I suggest, that if your RPM are lower at any time than the point at which it develops max torque, you should change down so as to return to the 'happy' figure!!" Are my suggestions correct? I have searched previous threads and the most relevant comment I found was from Darren on 25/2/04 when he said "If towing caravan, torque is everything".....please enlarge on this. -

Omega...Worth a try? 18 Jun 2003 (Forum)
However, now that I'm getting old and past it I've found that I can get very cheap insurance on this sort of car...so I'm gonna go for it. I'm pretty poor so I'm only looking to spend around £1000 to £1500 max, but I don't do a huge amount of miles per annum..less than 8000 a year. I'd like something with lots of toys, like air con and stuff, and I've started looking at Vauxhall Omegas, cos I like the styling and I've heard they are a nice drive. -
Kenlowe Hot-Start 7 Feb 2001 (Forum)
Well, in the Focus' crowded engine bay, it is most certainly not DIY - took a qualified motor engineer nearly 2 hours. Next, it takes the Focus much longer than the claimed 20 mins to reach max temp (about 50-60 mins for the tdi). Also, make sure you use metal junctions on the heater pipes, unless you like replacing the coolant frequently! Does it do any good? Dunno, really - mpg appears about the same, but it IS nice to get into a warm car on a cold morning. -
