  • Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 2007 1.6 Fuel Pump Filter Priming ? 22 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I have a 2007 Ford Fiesta 1.6 Diesel Sportvan which has just covered 30,000 miles. I have just replaced the fuel pump filter (a large plastic box!). Unfortunately it will now not start. I assume that there is an air lock of some description as despite turning over a few times and turning the ignition on for a period also several times I am unable to hear any sign of fuel.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 05 2.0tdci starting - struggle to tickover 1 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Driving the car it runs fine and the fuel consumption is acceptible (45mpg by filler/50 on the computer) Ford service suggested that there is some loss of compression on 2 cylinders and that there may be bent conrods/gudgeon pins, there is no vibration while driving even at high revs. I'm having trouble understanding this, as I would have thought as the revs increased a bent conrod/gudgeon pin would have a noticable increase in vibration?
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2004 1.8TDci - battery questions ...... 10 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I have access to a garage - so could also place the battery on charge for long periods - although don't really want to have to charge the battery in the "normal way" unless I can avoid it. How long to Ford batteries last, @ 4 years should I be thinking about a new one? Thanks in anticipation. Robert
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 00 1.8 coil light on loss of power 21 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I have a ford focus TDCI 1.8 w reg and the coil light keeps coming on up to 3 times a day, when the light comes on all power is lost. I have to pull in switch off and re-start, then it ok again. Also it seems to be misfiring or having an intermittent loss of power, any clues?
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 Programming Key 19 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I've had the key cut at a local place and this unlocks the doors fine, but I'm struggling to program the transponder to the car so I can actually start the car! I have two working keys and have tried the method that used to work with older Ford's, i.e. put key 1 in and turn to position 2, put key 2 in and turn to position 2, then put the new key in and turn to position 2, but this doesn't seem to be working. Can anyone confirm whether this should work?
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 05 1.8 key reprogramming/coding 12 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi all I am hoping that someone may be able to help I have a 2005 ford focus not the newer model on a 1.8 zetec. I have two keys for the car being the master and the remote (although the remote doesnt work). I purchased a third key off ebay on the basis I would be able to repgram the remote and put the old car on this.
  • Ford Mondeo 1 (1993 - 1996) - 96 2.0 - Central locking devoid of life 6 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Having driven company cars for the last 10 years and getting very used to central locking I keep leaving my car unlocked so would appreciate any help. I got one key with the car and this was not a ford one, it was a replacement generic key, obviously not remote. My problem is the car has no central locking from any door, no double locking and no alarm whatsoever. I have no idea where to start, but will have a damn good fiddle with the right advice.
  • Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - 99 1.2 Help! Radio question 27 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Hey, I know there's already a few threads about this but I'm wary about fiddling with my radio unless I know what I'm doing. I have a 1999 Ford Ka and I have the fascia and the wire adaptors and the removal pins. I'm getting a radio off my friend and as far as I know there isn't that big grey box thing on it (the cage?) So can i fit the radio without the cage or will I need to use the old Ka one that I've taken out already?
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.6 intermittent speedo fault 23 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Friend of mine has a 2001 Ford Focus,1600 Zetec--delighted with the car apart from an intermittent failure of the speedo, which occasionally drops to zero when driving then shoots up again.Car has done around 70K miles. As far as I know theres no loss of engine power accompanying the speedo failure, and no loss of instrumentation anywhere else on the dash.Shes only had the car a month, and its covered by a Mickey Mouse warranty from a local garage which basically excludes everything but engine and gearbox,so looks like its down to her to sort it.
  • Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 03 1.4 engine light - why ? 8 Aug 2008 (Forum)
On the off chance that there are any nice people out there that have a clue about cars, i would really appreciate your help. The engine light on my ford fiesta zetec has come on again. It was switched off by a garage which said it had to do with the emmision. they never gave a error code. i did the test on the dashboard and it flashes none Dtc. Does anyone know if this test is the same than the one where they hook it up to some sort of computer?
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.8 Timing belt concern ! 6 Aug 2008 (Forum)
This question concerns a 1999 UK Ford Focus 1.8 Petrol model. I know from various sources how bad it is to get engine oil etc onto the timing belt and tensioner etc, e.g. from the Hayne's manual and various internet articles. On the one hand the thought haunts me that there could be oil on my timing belt from a rocker cover gasket oil leak and so this could reduce the life of the belt or if it slipped on the idler pulley could cause great engine damage.
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 1.6 Easy cure for poor fuel consumption ? 2 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I wouldn't have thought wrong tyre pressures would make such a difference, but it's a bit worrying that a Ford main dealer can't get something as simple as this right on a pre-delivery check
  • Ford Mondeo 1 (1993 - 1996) - 96 1.8TD OEM Advance solenoid vs cheapo version 23 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I have a mondeo TD which needs a new advance solenoid so I'm told, I have managed to source a cheap one for £35, or I can go for the proper one from Ford for over £160. I know people who have used these cheaper versions and they do work, as in no more smoke at idle and lack of turbo e.t.c. but there car's appeared a bit under-powered and used a bit more fuel.
  • Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 2003 1.4 tdci - leaking fuel pump 7 Apr 2008 (Forum)
(black plug) Is the pump coded to the ecu in any way, if not could i change it myself.. (do have some experiance (and friends). Why do ford garages treat customer like crap. Thanks in advance {subject header changed from "help needed please... Screewloose" as 1) the question is vague, and (2) why shouldn't anyone else be allowed to answer your question?
  • Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 97 1.8 TD - Start-up Issues 9 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Recently was given a P-Reg Ford Escort TD that hadn't really moved for 12 months, 44k on clock. It wouldn't start but was push-started and taken to garage for MOT, passed no problem and they reported no issues with battery (they were asked to look at it).
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - Y reg 2.0 chipping/remapping experiences? 6 Nov 2007 (Forum)
It feels less 'eager' than our 1.0 Yaris, although obviously it's ultimately faster; perhaps it just needs a bit of getting used to. (And the car has a service book full of Ford service history so I'm assuming there's nothing actually wrong with the engine.) Cheers John
  • 55 Reg Focus Steering Noise 27 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Thanks in advance - I'll let you know what Ford say tomorrow.
  • Ford Fiesta Brake warning lamp stuck on. 4 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I have a 2001 Ford Fiesta Flight Diesel and have had the red brake warning lamp stuck permanenetly ON since last week just after I had to do an emergency stop. Looking in the manual, it tells me that it means that the fluid level is low but I have checked and the reservoir is full.
  • Ford Focus Speedo 31 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I've read some Focii instruments stay at 'halfway' positions when the ignition is turned off but not this fault. I'm guessing my local Ford dealer would either tell me to forget about it or charge a fortune to plug in a diagnostic computer.
  • Mk I Mondeo Roof Bars 16 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I bought the car without rails thinking it was easy to remove the black roof strip & bolt the rails into the slot on the roof like Vauxhalls - alas a nasty surprise was in store when the Ford parts guy told me you have to take out the head-linning & drill the roof and that he reckoned it was 6 hrs workshop time at the Ford garage - so for me at home god knows how long !! Am I trying to do somthing V difficult or should I be ok ?
