Accord Dtec Auto - five months in 25 Jan 2010 (Forum)
This is the first Honda i have had,i got an auto because i do quite a few miles 18300 thus far and find manuals too much like hard work in heavy traffic, unlike the auto which is smooth and relaxing, for a big car the Honda has a surprisingly light feel to its handling, the ride is a bit harsh and fidgety if you are looking for a smooth ride this is not it although its far from uncomfortable as the seats are the best i have had in a car. The Accord has a lot of kit ,satnav, bluetooth and reverse camera being the most useful ones day to day so i think its good value compared to others. Fuel economy sits around 40/41mpg and the best i have seen is 46mpg mixed driving. I bought this car to be a reliable workhorse for at least five years and after five months it has been problem free as you would expect,it is not the best looking car out there but who cares it fits our needs as a big functional family car. -
Subaru Forester - First 2 months and 2,000 miles of ownership 27 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Subaru only do three trim levels in petrol, XC, XE and XT with a premium pack if you want leather and satnav. This model is the mid range XE model so is well equipped: Cruise control Reversing camera Electric drivers seat Dual climate Sunroof HID lighting Heated seats Auto lights and wipers Folding mirrors Bluetooth with voice activation USB, Aux and Bluetooth audio options And of course it has permanent 4WD. -
Toyota Prius plug in 2017 - Very quick review 7 Feb 2018 (Forum)
A whole bank of information on the screen on the top of the dash including speedo, trip meters, driving mode etc etc. In addition large satnav screen which also doubles as reversing camera screen, audio info, vehicle power source graphic and a host of other stuff I didn’t have time to play with! DAB radio as standard - |I managed to navigate the radio quite quickly. -
Peugeot 2008 1.2 130 EAT6 Allure Premium - The first thousand miles 3 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Messy styling where the dash abuts the quarterlight, which I see is much improved in the new model. The reversing light is a bit dim - we'd trade the camera view on the touchscreen for a brighter one. That's about it so far. I'll do another mpg measurement in a year's time. -
Help me narrow down these choices for me please! 23 Aug 2025 (Forum)
Diesel engines are good Merc C Class 2016+ ; slightly more roomier in the back than the 3 series, and more bells and whistles as standard than the 3 series (i.e. reverse camera etc). BMW 5 Series 2015+ ; very solid engines, much more spacious than a 3 Series or C Class. Surprisingly cheaper/more available used than the 3 Series or C/S Class. -

Nissan X-Trail (2007 - ) - J D power 2009 xtrail 14 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Then is goes on "visibility wasn't up to scratch" now things are getting silly, the last xtrail was absolutely brilliant for reverse parking. The new one has restricted rear view,(which i know about before i bought it), but a reverse camera on my model makes up for it. So i can only assume that the survey covered both models, so doesn't that make the results a nonsense? -
Toyota Yaris 1.5 - 10,000 miles on 1 Dec 2019 (Forum)
The car was comfortable, reasonably spacious (considering its compact dimensions), extremely economical and very well equipped having: Cruise Control, Reversing Camera, Sat Nav etc. The above issues made this a difficult car to live with. This car has now been traded in and I’ll start a new thread on its replacement. Think this thread proves that you can do all the research you like, but you do need a bit of luck as well when car buying. -
Replacing a Hyundai i10 15 Feb 2020 (Forum)
Order placed for an SEL 110 bhp 6-speed manual: the only extras needed were metallic Race Blue paint, a reversing camera and a space-saver spare wheel. I think we've done the right thing, but I look forward to people on here telling me we didn't. I hope it's of interest anyway. -
Honda Civic - Is this car a good buy / fair price? 15 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Something a bit newer (even if it has more miles), or something with a higher spec (such as with reversing camera, Cruise Control, etc.). Or is this car still a good buy at this price? -
Lexus RX400h - RX400h owner's review for gordonbennet 20 Jun 2019 (Forum)
I find I have to drive around car parks with the windows down and the (decent) stereo on, pedestrians just don’t hear you coming when running on battery power and step into your path lemming-style. Reversing lights are awful, I’ve replaced them with LEDs which means the parking camera is now useful at night – but the electrical noise from the dodgy Chinese LED's means I have to turn the wireless off when reversing to avoid a blast of white noise! -
Help with replacement car choice 16 Feb 2017 (Forum)
The Hyundai has been generally reliable with only two faults fixed under warranty, a failed propshaft bearing and failed reversing camera. What would the backroomers choose in my situation? -
Renault Clio - Should I change my car to a diesel? (advice) 3 Jun 2022 (Forum)
This I have worked out the costs of my fuel bill could potentially be halved with long distances I intend to travel – considering the MPG is double on my current clio. This Clio is 2017 and pretty much has all the specs my current Clio has (minus a reversing camera). This has done approx. 27,000 miles to this date. My intention would be to part exchange this outright in cash - which would only set me back by about a grand - but i know this is well in budget for me. -
Irrelevant - Looking for advice and opinions. 11 Aug 2016 (Forum)
This vehicle was one of the Manufacturers Approved vehicles. The vehicle has an excellent reversing camera on which reference guides should appear. As my old vehicle was an identical model I am of course familiar with the system. I was told by the dealership that these lines had been removed for safety which is of course pure B/S. -
Honda Civic 1.0 SR - First impressions 9 May 2019 (Forum)
I am not sure if its GPS based or trying to detect signs but either way it was wrong Although it is a bigger car the new one feels no bigger to drive. The reversing camera in todays rain was far better on the new car. Rear visibiliity has never been an issue for me but the new car's spoiler is even thinner and the overall glass area is pretty big. Some of the interior is a step backwards. -
Hit and drive off accident A406/A105 - Help 23 Nov 2014 (Forum)
At that point he tried to make me feel guilty of something he did wrong. I got his details then reversed into the petrol station. Still in shock. Called the police. They could not do anything as they did not witness anything. Gave me a ref. I was asked if I was ok. I did not feel well. Spoke to my friends and told them I would go home. -
The Far Side 16 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Let's say you're some big cheese here with connections and you live on the busy highway. So you build yourself a couple of speed humps of your own so that you can reverse out of your driveway by making the traffic slow down. Quite common. Result is we got more speed humps than Big G says you can poke a stick at. But what I found in yesterday's paper is a very good example of motoring life here. -
Grrrrr 19 Nov 2001 (Forum)
But that's another story. Luckily there was little danger of being blitzed by the Citizen Surveillance Cameras, anyway I always drive on a foreign license in UK. After 900 miles around UK in this lump it was a great relief to get back to Manila, board the Better Half (by now the Bitter Half)'s Ford Lynx 1.6, zip away from the car park with a tropical spec aircon blasting ice-cold air, room to move one's corpus, plenty of space for the luggage, and to be thankful for being reminded of the American interpretation of what automobile travel should be about. -
