  It means that drivers filling up at any of Asda’s 217 forecourts nationwide will benefit from the retailer’s national price cap of 133.7 pence per litre on unleaded following a cut of up to 2ppl on unleaded. This follows last week’s cut on Diesel to 137.7ppl. Diesel fuel remains the same following last week’s 2 ppl litre price cut with Asda’s national price cap at 137.7 pence per litre which is 4 ppl cheaper than the national average diesel price. Morrisons has  314 petrol stations across the UK.  Mark Todd, Petrol Director for Morrisons, said: “A drop in wholesale prices combined with an improved exchange rate has provided us with an opportunity to pass a saving on to customers and continue to offer some of the lowest prices on the market.” How economical is your car?

  The i8 will use a three-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine that's combined with an electric drive system to produce  349hp/300Nm.  Its 0-62mph time is said to be under five seconds, combined with the fuel consumption of under approximately 78mpg. The all-electric mode has a reported electric range of approximately 20 miles.  Business Secretary Vince Cable said: “BMW’s decision to produce engines for their i8 plug-in hybrid sports car at Hams Hall is more good news for the UK automotive sector and underlines its growing competitive strength.

  Registrations of 'signposted' eco-models, such as SEAT's Ecomotive, Ford's Econetic and VW's Bluemotion - have risen by 141.4% in the first half of 2010 to almost 74,000 units and by almost 850% on the first half of 2008. "The remainder of the year is set to be challenging, especially post the scrappage scheme.

  Motorists keen to protect cheap car insurance premiums may be well advised to heed advice from the Highways Agency (HA). The government department has urged drivers to make sure they have enough fuel to complete planned journeys. It issued this plea in light of new figures that have shown - between July 1st 2008 and June 30th 2009 - an average of 43 motorists a day had to be rescued from English motorways after letting their tanks run dry.
