  • Wedding Bells - idiot local driver! 23 Dec 2008 (Forum)
"While the bride and groom were tying the knot, the driver decided to take the car for a spin," she said in a statement on Wednesday. "Travelling at such great speeds in a busy residential area is reckless in the extreme and seems to indicate that this young man has no respect for other road users or even for someone else's property, because he was driving a hired vehicle."

  • Suzuki Baleno - Thoughts on Suzuki Baleno 21 May 2024 (Forum)
I would like to keep the car for a few years, the extra space whilst still being a small class of car is appealing as I'm a young driver and would like to keep the insurance premiums down. I suppose my question is, has anyone had any experience with the Baleno, namely negative ones? Or perhaps should I be looking elsewhere, such as the Dacia Sandero?
  • 18 y/o Insurance 7 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I have a Volkswagen Golf 1.6 Match 16v and will have 2 years no claims on 30th January, also my 19th birthday, when my policy expires. Can anyone recommend any Insurance Companies that give good quotes to young drivers? My best quote so far is £909. Cheers
  • Add-on - bust off 16 Oct 2006 (Forum)
There is a sign reading barrier height 5' 9". Nobody notices signs, and the driver didn't. Another resounding clatter and luggage scattered all over the entrance.
  • White van man and unbelted kids 8 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I know the subject has been touched on before but I was this evening, followed by a Transit with the following occupants: Driver, Mum with you child on lap, young child on middle seat with younger child on lap. You guessed it, NO seat belts in use by any of them. The same people who are going to read, digests and act on the latest how to defend against terror book instructions.
  • One for the insurance wizzos 26 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I was rear-ended in a queue of traffic in my company car yesterday by a young lad in an old Jag. Not my fault, reported it to our accident management folks so it will all get sorted out OK. But, I have two other insurance policies in my name, one for my son's car with me as the policyholder & him as the main driver and the other a classic car policy on the Commer.

  • Drivers or car operators - Discuss 19 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Does anyone agree with me that manufacturers have reduced most of us from being drivers to being car operators. Agreed that some innvoation is in the interests of improving safety for the less experienced motorist, but it seems to have detracted greatly from the "skill" required to drive.
  • ANY - No entry except for authorised vehicles 15 Aug 2023 (Forum)
Bank of mum and dad have told him pay yourself. He is an apprentice brickie so when not in college earns a fair bit. Chastened young man. Look on the bright side, Not speeding or traffic light cameras. And have seen him driving, sometimes even following and a pretty good driver for a newly passsed one.

  • A303 Somerset 40 mile diversion for 14 weeks in 09 19 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Car occupiers tend to be young with well used vehicle. Damage visibility depends on paintwork and you would notice it more on your car than others! Only protection is a wide sidestrip which would look untidy.
  • Top 10 lethal roads 9 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Er.....because there are more big cities in the North with weekend bikers who like to go for a blast on the twisties and more young drivers from urban centres out for a run? This lot meeting each other and other slower moving road users like lorries and caravans is a more frequent occurence than in the South. It's not difficult is it?
