  • Volvo S70/V70 (1996 - 2000) - 98 2.5 ABS Pedal judder. 30 May 2014 (Forum)
My V70 Cross Country All Wheel Drive is playing up, when driving a buzzing ABS noise comes from the pedal area without even touching it, if you brake lightly the ABS activates every time and makes the pedal vibrate and click as if ABS is needed, which it is not! Have fitted two ABS control modules (six plug type ABS/TRAC units) and cleared any fault codes to no avail, still does it!!!
  • Suzuki Ignis Sport - Ordering car parts on the Internet 5 Mar 2014 (Forum)
My 10 y-old car is being MOTed tomorrow and I may need to order new discs & brake pads. Last time they needed replacing, the garage (dealer) charged me a fortune for them and, since I may not keep the car very long (even if it passes), I 'd like to order them on the Net, I'm sure they'd be much cheaper.
  • Rear light in Ford Focus 14 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Hello, I have a  1.6 2003  Ford Focus and the rear light is not working, the brake light does work. I took the bulb out and took it to a car spares shop, they tested the bulb and both filaments work. I checked inside the bulb housing and it is completely dry, I made sure the connections on the buld and where it connects to are clean, dry and corrosion free.
  • Traffic Light Cameras 23 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Hi, I'm pretty sure I got zapped tonight by a traffic light camera. It was one of those split second decisions as to whether to brake firmly or to carry on. On this occasion, I obviously made the wrong decision. I wasn't over the speed limit, btw, and I had already slowed down in anticipation of lights, but at the time it just seemed more sensible to go through rather than stop.

I've cleaned the iacv which seemed to make matters slightly worse I can't hear any hissing from the manifold area may check the tps when it's a bit dryer cheers
  • Skoda Octavia 2010 1.6 diesel - Removing DPF 28 Dec 2011 (Forum)
It is now beginning to have a rumbling gearbox, but it has always had a tendency to have a stutter on the power delivery, and tends to lose power slightly intermittently (as if the brakes have been lightly applied), and fuel consumption has gradually dropped. I was thinking of removing the DPF and turning off the pressure sensors etc. Anyone any experience of this, and the supply of a DPF "can" so I can refit the original if necessary.
  • I have a 1999 vauxhall omega 2.0 automatic. - Wrong tyre size 5 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I took it in to have the brake pads replaced. while I was there I metioned that I have not got a spare tyre and I could do with a second hand one just in caes of a puncture. He sold me one with a good tread and good walls on it When I got home I noticed that the tyre size was 205/60 R15 instead of 195/65 R15 will this be OK to use or should I take it back Thanks for any help :-)
  • Renault Laguna II (2001 - 2007) - 2002 1.6l Central locking problem 22 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I can hear the mechanism working when I press the key card but no joy. The central locking button by the hand brake does'nt unlock it either. Could it be a case of a WD40 injection or should I go to my Bank manager for a loan to get a Renault garage to sort it out?? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  • BMW 3-Series E46 (1998 - 2005) - 1999. Vibrating steering wheel & noise from wheels 11 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Just recently i have noticed that when driving at high speeds there is excessive noise from the front left wheel and passengers have said it vibrates? Also when i brake from high speeds the steering wheel begins to shudder. I think this is do with wheel alignment and possibly wheel bearing problems. Can anyone shed any light? thanks
  • Why do we have indicators on cars now!! 13 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Hi i drive for Royal Mail, have noticed in last 6months or so that at least 70% of  all drivers (from HGV to cars) do not bother to indicat, does not matter if they are changing lanes on motorway, driving round or leaving a roundabout etc, my fav is when im driving along a main road in a town and the car in front puts its brakes on stops then turns right into a side street!! If you are a driver who does not use your indicators is it cause you are thick or bone lazy!!
  • seat ibiza 2005 reg. - Stiff steering 14 Jun 2010 (Forum)
it seems to be fine doing light steering - but when i slow down into 2nd for example to right a 90 degree turn - the steering becomes increadibly tight - almost like i have my foot firm on the brake. is this simply to do with the power steering fluid levels which i could do myself or is it likely to be something deeper rooted?   Thanks

  • Average speed cameras. good or bad? 11 Aug 2009 (Forum)
i have noticed a lot of motorway roadworks now have the temporary speed limits. i prefer these to the single fixed point camera as they seem to slow down the traffic for a greater distance and you don't get the person stamping on their brakes because they have seen a 'gatso'. what i want to ask is are they a legal limit? i'm repeatedly overtaken by people doing atleast 10 mph more than my callibrated spedo shows. do you know anyone who has got a ticket from an average speed camera?
  • Mazda 626 (2000 - 2002) - 00 2.0 How does my handbrake work??? 11 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I can see the usual cable pulls a short lever in an arc. Does this then operate a cam onto a reversed hydraulic piston which pushes the brake fluid trapped by a valve and forces the slave piston out? Or is there a physical metal link between the two? It has the wind-in piston return if that is relevant.
  • B/Hol quiz - `Virtual motoring tour` 25 May 2009 (Forum)
A descriptive motoring tour then. Anyone who names it outright steps on a snake and goes to grease Rattles brake pipes. As that would ruin the `virtual motoring tour` http://www.oilrag.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/sglass.jpg Pic up for a week or so.. regards
