Toyota iQ (2008 - 2014)
1.0 VVTi Multidrive 3dr
Absolute little sweetheart.
I bought this in 2014 with the intention of keeping it for a couple of months and selling it for a bit of profit as I had done many times previously with all sorts of cars. I could not, however, bring myself to part with my fantastic Iq and I still own the car all these years later. It has a quality feel that is so rare in a small car, it’s great fun to drive in all environments and has been faultlessly reliable. I have replaced tyres and windscreen wipers, and that’s it, apart from servicing, in over eleven years. It’s the best car in snowy conditions you could wish for too and with all season tyres will take you literally anywhere. In safety too. It has ten airbags and a five star NCAP rating. Fifty miles a gallon, more on a run, thirty five quid tax, really low insurance and if you drop the back seats you have more space than you would believe. Downsides? Headlights aren’t great but are much better with uprated Philips bulbs and the cvt gearbox takes a bit of getting used to but that’s it. Oh, and if you are really tall the driver’s seat won’t go back far enough. If you are under six four and don’t need more than three and a half seats, you cannot buy a small car that comes anywhere near these characterful, endearing, brilliantly designed and engineered little boxes of happiness.
