A drivers car and great fun

Handling outstanding
Ride pretty good for small car especially with its incredible handling
Very good performance and responsiveness with no turbo lag.
Can easily be driven in a sedate manner as well.
Reasonably quiet.
Good, but not excellent, gearbox
Ergonomics better than Countryman but why are cruise control and radio controls on different sides of steering wheel to stablemate the Countryman?
It is really a 2+2 especially if the driver is tall; notably less space that the significantly shorter Austin Rover Metro but a reasonable successor to the MG Metro (overall car of the year 1982)
Excellent seating - are Austin Rover designers still around?
Reasonable economy when driven even slightly carefully but never anywhere near official figures
