Yes, there's a nasty surprise waiting for 1.0 Ecoboost owners on its 9th birthday, a wet cambelt change costing well over £1k and probably a lot more. My mother has one that's 8 years old but very low mileage, has been perfect from new. Wondering whether she should have it done, or risk it.

Pollution from tyre wear can be 1,000 times worse than what comes out of a car’s exhaust, Emissions Analytics has found.

Harmful particle matter from tyres – and also brakes – is a very serious and growing environmental problem, one that is being exacerbated by the increasing popularity of large, heavy vehicles such as SUVs, and growing demand for electric vehicles, which are heavier than standard cars because of their batteries.

We were out and about with Sammy dog on a 5 mile walk at one of our favourite places near home. After the walk we visited the centre cafe for some well earned refreshment. Queuing for some food and drink an old chap was paying for his food and using his card. As so often happens with a card reader it fails to register first time. The cafe assistant asked the old chap to tap it again. Where upon he jabbed his index finger hard on the reader and their whole system when down from the card reader to the computerised food order system. The cafe had probably experienced problems before so reverted to a manual system took our order and we eventually paid on leaving. I am putting a link on here for the centre as a visit if you are near or a serious mountain biker or walker is well worth it If you prefer to view the magnificent scenery you can do so on a 7 mile drive through the forest and hills with plenty of car parks picnic areas and places where you can easily reach the top of the hills There are also many very friendly birds here a reference to another member who posted about the crows

The retailers have got the customers doing half the job with self checkout. I am sure that stores will have assessed theft losses vs staff cost savings and priced goods accordingly.

The next stage is getting closer - rather than pick goods from the shelves, picking will be done robotically. Even human pickers for online shoppers will be redundant....

Aircon working or not does not affect the operation of the blower motor . Circuit short to ground or open could be a power supply issue or a bad earth circuit.

Forgot to note this before removal, doesn't seem to be mentioned in my manuals, and may not matter.

I'm referring to the butted ends of the wiggly spring thing. Should they point up (letter W stylee) or down (letter M stylee)... Read more

If your in the market for a decent spec small car with 5 doors, simple petrol engine and reliable, then you have until the end of October to order a Kia Rio as this is when my local dealership expects Kia to stop taking orders.

The Rio while being simple over exciting has been a good dependable car over its various body types; the current version looks good and drives fine.

You can pick up a mid spec 2 model for £15500 with discount if you shop around.

Delivery is 7-8 weeks if not in UK stock

A competitive price compared to many rivals and that’s before you add the 7 year warranty.

I have always had a soft spot for Rio’s. Read more

I like many others am a dog person and love dogs. They are great companions and working dogs of all breeds are extremely useful to humans with their intelligence and unbeatable sense of smell.

As an owner I am always concerned when out walking with my dog of some owners and other types of dog you meet and have had a few incidents of dog on dog attacks which I suppose is to be expected.... Read more

Seems to me that a lot of people choose a dog as a fashion/lifestyle accessory. They choose the dog based solely on what it looks like with no thought towards it's inherent nature and/or requirements re stimulation and exercise. As was mentioned earlier, these owners think their responsibility extends only as far as feeding it.

I have lots of customers who have dogs and, for by far the most part I always get on great with them. But I had one customer, not sure what breed the dog was but possibly Rhodesian Ridgeback, and I did not trust it one little bit!. Most times when I am cleaning the windows and there is a dog inside, the dog is fixated on my brush. But this dog, it would look straight at my face. Because of the way it was looking at me, I had absolutely no doubt that it would go for me given the chance. After a couple of near misses where I'd went round the back only to notice the French doors were open (and beat a very hasty retreat), it was agreed that I'd txt the customer the night before to make sure the dog was in and the doors closed. Anyway, towards the end of last year she said that the dog had been put down because it went for one of her friends. I didn't say so, but it really did not surprise me. ...

Was approaching the traffic lights and about to turn right when the light went Amber and so I stopped but unfortunately I was just beyond the stop line. I did not move forwards any further until it went green. Is this an offence!? I did not actually go through a red light but I'm worried as the law says every part of the vehicle has to be before the stop line when the light tienes Red.

I don't think I saw any red light traffic cameras in any case. Read more

I think the OP needs to get some extra tuition and discuss these matters with the instructor. He may have passed his test but its clear he is over thinking small matters that the rest of us never even consider.

Yes this might be an idea. Just this evening I saw another camera I drove past and am a bit worried whether it was a speed camera.....
