Hi , Can you possibly tell me which space saver wheels fit the above car. I know the Peugeot 3008 ( new shape ) fits, are there any other manufacturers wheels that fit ? Read more

It may be as much to do with the brand perceptions as the model range.

Ssangyong have a reputation (justified or not) for cheap fairly crude vehicles - certainly the case a decade ago....

Hi.

My last car was a Honda CRV, which I sold when I moved country. I need a new one car and want an suv automatic. I considered the Honda CRV here too, but it seems you can get more for your money elsewhere.... Read more

“ That is just scaremongering. Even if the Ssangyong tie up doesn’t come to fruition, The Colt Car Company (the UK importer) has stated they will, “continue to provide full customer support in terms of service, repair, warranty, parts and accessories”. So owners of both new and used Mitsubishi’s will emphatically not become unsupported.”

I wouldn’t touch one without a huge discount despite their statement regarding ongoing dealer support. Residual values of any make which withdraws from the market are utterly ruined plus as numbers reduce fewer aftermarket suppliers will service the brand and many parts will quickly become dealer only which will see perfectly serviceable cars written-off prematurely. Their range is dated and poor compared to what they offered in the 80’s and 90’s, really there isn’t a class competitive car offered with a Mitsubishi badge in the UK. While it’s sad to see a once great brand leaving I fully agree why they’ve done it. We don’t need another Nissan building rebadged Renault’s and it would only hurt sales of UK built cars from Sunderland.

Hi guys

Been working on my Honda Civic that I’ve just bought (mini-project car).

Had the front-wheel tracking fixed today - one of the settings was apparently 8mm before they fixed it. (I guess it was the toe, which is meant to be between zero and 2mm or something). So pretty drastic.

Steering feels a lot better at low speeds now but still not ‘perfect’.

Questions:

1. Should I get the tracking done on the rear wheels / 4 wheels? I always assumed that was a bit of a waste of money if the front wheels are ok?

2. Is it true that Civic steering tends to feel a bit heavy anyway? Is this just because, like the guy told me today, a lot of Honda’s seem to way out with their tracking (more so than other makes)?

3. Am I going mad or does there always seem to be a bit of a delay, maybe a few hours driving time (this is on any make/model), between (a) the tracking being fixed and (b) you actually feeling the full benefit when driving? It’s almost like it takes a while after the fix, for everything to slot into its rightful place.

4. The guys checked the brake discs, which are apparently a bit corroded on the lip. Am I right this wouldn’t be relevant to the steering being heavy at low speeds? I think the brakes would cause a different symptom like shaking in the steering wheel, which I haven’t got.

Cheers
Paul

Something gordenbennet has reminded me of is front dampers are a common failure on these, they stiffen or if you get one that does, it causes problems with steering, just a thought...

SWMBO has received a parking charge notice from the people who "manage" the car park at our local shopping center.

She's been done for "not parking wholly within bay" and to be fair the photographs show that one side of the car is over and slightly beyond the white line on one side. No excuses she's been sloppy in this regard, even though she was only parked for 5 minutes max, (in an otherwise empty car park due to local tier 3 restrictions).... Read more

The Brownie points with SWMBO are priceless!

Well nick, now you are basking in the reflected glow of a million housepoints the time is right to press home the advantage before they wear off. Which in my experience is pretty quickly. Well done and also to the property company too for doing the right thing and going to bat for you....

Non fob key operated door/ignition. A problem has arisen whereby the key into the driver door lock will open all doors but will not lock all doors. Having to manually press all the locks from inside before exiting and locking the driver door with the key. Any info is much appreciated to help rectify the issue. Read more

Many Asian model cars of this era have the lock/unlock relay module located under the dash , driver side , mounted on a metal bracket. Not too sure where it is on this model , but you may be able to hear a clicking sound if you get an assistant to operate the key while listening for the noise .

A new motorway service station being built at the M6/M1 junction is receiving some of the first 350kW rapid chargers in the country, 12 of them.
This is going to mean that a new Zoë, for example, will get a 0-80% charge in something like 7 minutes. Hardly time to nip to the gents/ladies and it’s good to go again. Read more

We could endlessly debate which trees are faster growing. Whether the density of planting can be increased. Whether they would be cut down long before their full term for "green" wood pellet generation.

It is all completely fatuous!...
