Latest figures show that across Europe in September, there were more electrified cars registered than there were diesels. Read more
I wouldn’t get too excited (if you are an EV fan) or too upset (if you aren’t) over this news with mild hybrids beings included. This is a fairly cheap way of making a meaningful reduction in the (official) emissions, and therefore the number of mild hybrid cars being offered has absolutely shot up.

The big surprise flicking through those results is the Dacia Duster at 99%.
I ran my 04 X type diesel (bought at 9 years old and 132k miles for £2700) for 6 years and it served me well until November 2019 when inspection revealed terminal corrosion at 192k miles. A 'temporary' 2003 Leon 1.9 tdi 130 for £600 was surprisingly good except for copious smoke and the ubiquitous internal water leaks.
In January 2020 I decided to bite the bullet and buy new or used approved. A new Duster appealed but after much research I decided on a Suzuki Baleno 1.0 turbo (which I still consider to be an excellent car). I found a 3 year old, 29k miles, from a main dealer at £7000 and went ahead. After a £1300 deposit it was £127 a month on pcp (which I intended to later replace with cash/bank loan).... Read more

After approx 5 miles on A road + 1 jn on Mway, braking was juddery enough for my wife to come home. So I had a look at the caliper expecting to find it seized or binding in some way. Disc was hot enough to turn water to steam. Left it a bit & caliper came off fine, pads came out grubby but also fine except for the groove in them chock full of dust & debris. All cleaned up, regreased & I managed to push the piston back in by hand. This is not a seized caliper! Great. So why is it still overheating????? Any ideas / suggestions welcome. Read more
4WIW, on caliper pins I've had good results abrading the pin and the hole it moves in with aluminium foil, then lightly applying silicon grease to the pin, wrapping it tightly in PTFE thread tape and applying a little bit more grease on top before fitting. The tape was still where I put it when I stripped them again a few years later.
Silicon grease allegedly has poor corrosion resistance. It has been OK here in Taiwan but might not be where .the roads are aggressively salted in winter. I also have some red rubber grease and some Bendix Ceramlube but havn't used them yet....
Hello
Car: Mini One R50 04' Reg
Issue: the Aerial cable coming from behind the dashboard has snapped off, it's just a black wire now with some copper sticking out of it. I am trying to order a replacement Wave stereo (the original) as the previous owner had a halfords system.
2 questions:
1. Is the Aerial cable repairable - can i do it myself (if so, how?) or where can i get it repaired (how much would this cost)?
2. i have seen Wave radios online on eBay for around £20 - can i just buy any of them and plug it in or is there anything else i need to know. have attached an image of whats remaining.
Thanks! Read more
That’s the standard quad lock bmw/mini connector . The aerial coax connector will be a concentric button type or a Fakra type . Depends on the unit fitted . Both aerial types are repairable with suitable adaptor leads

Its no so much a warranty on a bulb, but the dealer saying that the whole cluster has to be renewed. As you say, I'm sure that the cluster could be removed and then just replace the dial which has the faulty bulb. Think I will get a second opinion from another Toyota dealership.
