Finally decided to get my thoughts together regarding our recently departed Jazz. A car i was very wary about going for due to the overwhelmingly negative opinion on the CVT transmission from virtually every part of the motoring press (not to mention quite a few forum members at the time). Just to get them out of the way, i'm going to start with the negatives, not that there is much.... Read more

Hi, does anyone have information regarding the reputation/reliability of this engine?
It came out in 2017 as a new four cylinder engine and is already being replaced by a new three cylinder design. It seems a very short life span so has it been replaced because it was a poor design?... Read more
I suspect the Yaris I'll be looking at will be less lively than my present one as, like most cars, they tend to gain weight during updates.
I have considered the Skoda, but Toyota reliability/reputation is winning the argument, especially as I tend to keep my cars a long time.

Unlikely to be immobiliser faulty. I would check wiring and main fuses by the battery.
Heard a squeaking from a drive belt yesterday morn, got to work could smell a slight burning rubber smell.
Lifted bonnet, there's the culprit, lock nut securing the aircon belt pulley to its adjuster bracket has vanished and the pulley has been rubbing on the front timing belt cover, shock horror its cut right through and rubbing on the edge of the cambelt itself!... Read more
Almost never see anyone take a brief once around the car, just dive in start up and off they go, the thing could be sat on bricks or the nearside be ripped out by a passing lorry for all the attention they paid.
Agreed. Its the right time to spot a partially deflated tyre or something more serious. Rather find out before I set off than have it become apparent on the road....

Easy way is to remove the complete headlight . 2 screws on the top and a ball clip on the side . Then just pull it forward to access all the bulbs.
