Any ideas what could be causing this?
Daughters car was pulling to right so put it into trusted local garage. They checked the wheel alignment and osr was way out. No adjustment possible to rear axle so was advised to replace it, but now that's been done, and alignment is within acceptable range for all 4 corners, the car still pulls to the right :-( Read more
Hi i have a civic 2007 petrol, my clutch has been squeking probably past couple years. tried white lithium grease last year it went away for a while but returned.
What do you think needs replacing is it the whole clutch pedal, slave cyclinder. any advice will be useful. Read more
Yes you can just ignore it and carry on, mine was so loud it I had to do something about it.
Don't be tempted to just spray grease everywhere, it needs to go in the exact places i mentioned above....

I ordered a new Skoda at the start of the year and after a Covid delay, the car will be ready in the next few weeks.
Unfortunately the dealer has called to tell me if I want the car delivered to my home I will need to pay an extra £200. This is in spite of the original contract stating that the cost included delivery.... Read more
I'm old enough to remember when car prices were advertised as 'ex-works'. (Did anyone ever elect to collect their car from the factory?)
I know of a couple of people who took advantage of MB's offer to collect their cars from the factory, with all transport costs and a tour of the premises included. Back in the '70s IIRC, they still rotted like all MBs of that era.
OK... a really basic question...
But what should I use to wash my car?... Read more
I usually wash my car with just cold water and a sponge and then go over it with a damp chamois leather when it's almost dry.
I used to have an MPV where I couldn't easily reach all the roof. A small step-ladder or just a plastic step is useful to reach the middle of the roof, but make sure these are sitting squarely on the ground.
Hello, looking to buy a cheap reliable car. Ive just sold my car to buy a campervan due to working away a lot and I'll need a car for daily trips to the shops and to cover probably 7k of motorway miles per year ( two 90 mile trips per week)

I hadn't even considered the mazda 2
A company that's proven its integrity and commitment to UK consumers with this failed legal defence, and its cars are not reliable as many would have you believe (e.g. 1.5 TSi engine debacle and the dieselgate 'fix' that's ruined many of their cars despite "not having a defeat device under UK law") so I still can't figure out why so many people in the UK buy so many of their cars that don't even benefit the UK economy by being built here?

I had quite a different experience. 11 months after the recall update was performed my coil light began flashing and eml light came on intermittently.
Diagnostics by the dealership brought up turbo boost actuator fault (hmmm second turbo) VW dealership in newcastle 12 months and 2 days after the repair "we are really sorry but your car is just outside the warranty"...
The same 1.2 mild hybrid SZ5 Allgrip spec car, prior to this light refresh, that Honest John had on long term test that began in October 2017 cost £14,499.
This lightly refreshed car now costs £17964 in the same spec with same mild hybrid engine and Allgrip.
So that's 34 months for the price to increase by £3,465, which is almost 20% in less than 3 years.
Of course all manufacturers have been increasing their prices ridiculously in recent times, but it's a shame that the once 'budget' manufacturers are keeping up with them, thus no bargains exist any more.
I can't see how this will end well for the car manufacturers in a cash-strapped post Coronavirus economy. Read more
I was interested in a new Ignis 18 months ago. I used to check the new car price on Suzuki's website. Back the end of 2018 to start of 2019,they had an offer on and the price of a brand new Ignis in the cheapest spec was £9,999. Now the cheapest Ignis is £13,999. Thats a ridiculous 40% increase in just over 18 months.Inflation over that time has been barely 3-4%.
Its not just Suzuki. Had a look on Bristol Street Motors at the price of new cars. The new 2020 Toyota Yaris starts from an eye popping £19,910. Who on earth is going to buy a yaris for that price. Checked on HJ for the prices of previous Yaris models ,a brand new 2007 yaris brand new in the cheapest spec was only $7,999, so thats over a 250% in just 13 years
The Government cannot afford to sit on it's backside and should be in talks with Hyundai and Kia and other EV manufacturers, about producing EV vehicles in this country, because unless something is done this country will have no future vehicle manufacturers. Because in 2035 or 2032 or even 2030 we will lose thousands of jobs because the majority of our vehicles produced here are ICE vehicles. Read more

If the axle was replaced because it was bent, could the mountings also be out of line. Perhaps the new one was 'coaxed' into place, putting it out of alignment straight away?
