I think we can add to that cars displaying a blue badge, but not being used by the blue badge holder. Read more

For the first time ever I parked today in a Supermarket blue badge bay.I didn’t want to but I’m so c******d with pain I thought I’d chance it.
I’ve applied for a Blue Badge but they are checking in depth my
eligibility and I’ve no idea whether I’ll get one. The application
questionnaire was ridiculous taking two hours online.
Such is the world we live in now. Too many people seem to
abuse the system such that the authorities can’t determine
whose a legitimate applicant. I’ve bought a disability scooter to
try to remain independent. But it feels so unsafe. It’s not good
being 84 in the UK.

Can you offer an opinion on performance of a 1.6 diesel engine coupled with a 9 speed auto gearbox on a 2017 model compared to a 1.5 turbo petrol engine coupled with a CVT as found on a 2019 model?

Thank you. That's very much what I'm inclined to do despite the attraction of a newer model with more mod cons.

So I still don’t think anyone (including the govt) understand the new additional tax changes for cars. Example, the govt website states for a 17 plate 520d over £40k new, first year is £150 a year Followed by 5 years at £475. However I enquired On the above car and was told you only had to pay the £475 until 2022 and not 2023? He even sent me a pic of the V5 which showed this! Who knows! Read more

Orb think you are missing the point, it’s an extra £325 for 5 years not 1!

I fully understand the point, but the sum extra for 1 year out is point 75% of the new cost, it's minor.

I checked DVLA too and the website is clear....

Normally after use my car engine would not register temperature (below 60°C) after 1 hour. Why then on the weekend did it register approx. 75°C 6 hours after it had last been used?

High beam assist, one of those things you think you don't need or use until you had it. It's great. Another Puma plus and massage seats hmmm a lovely start to the day!

My wife is part-exchanging her car tomorrow (4th August) and I have a question about car insurance. If she changes the insurance for tomorrow (kicks in at 00.01 tomorrow morning) is she still covered to drive the car to collect her new one?

I've tried contacting her insurers but it's all online and it takes 24 hrs for them to reply. Read more

Thanks, well the insurance change over was easy and the wife collected her car today. Looks mint and drives well but i'm not sure about the electric hand break. I may be getting old as I still prefer the manual version.

Too many lights and whistles but it's very nice. Only one issue which I've posted in the technical - no space saver wheel.....apparently all Kadjar' have a spare apart from this model due to the Bose Subwoofer in the boot. Other than that I'm a jealous guy sitting in his Honda Jazz...lol.

MG sold 2650 cars in july 2020..

Really? That many? Was this a fair representation of normal sales or just the 'bounce-back' after the lockdown had ended?...

The recent thread about seat height and ingress for drivers with limited movement caused me to think about this thread. Although fortunate enough not to need mobility aids I would pay extra for my choice of seat adjustment. The best feature by far on any car is the memory function for the drivers seat. Allowing minute multi adjustment electrically and storage of that position and the side mirrors in a memory is invaluable. SWMBO being 5'3" and me at 6'2" meant a real problem if she left the seat in her position after using my car. However when opened with my master key the seat and mirrors automatically returned to my settings. Absolutely priceless. This came as standard on my Superb Elegance. However this cannot be specified without buying a whole package of leather/heated seats and other gizmos, some not required. The ability to split options was a real bonus years ago. Being able to buy an L spec and add some GL or Ghia features was great. No longer so. It's almost like they don't want to sell me what I want, but what they want me to have. Don't like it. The XC60 is very comfortable and luckily SWMBO does not drive it, but if she did it would drive me crackers again having to reset the seat, mirrors etc every time.

I've always found Renault seats to be extremely comfortable.

I'd agree with that, some of the best seats to be found were in my Renault 21 Savanna, helped by its ultra pliable ride yet able to corner at ridiculous speeds like it was on rails, Pug 405 like....

I'm looking for advice upon buying a 2016 Jeep Renegade 1.4 Longitude. 32,755 miles. I have test drove the car on Sunday 2nd August. However the thing which is pulling on my mind is that there are a few issues coming from reviews. Things about the electrical issues and engine issues with other models.

Is there anyone who is an owner that is happy and would recommend this vehicle? Read more

Ensure the car has a complete service history preferably from a dealer. The 1.4engine is strong and used across the Fiat/Alfa/Jeep range but MUST have been filled with the correct oil. The multiair part of the engine is very sensitive and many have been known to fail when incorrect oil is used. The Multiair system is around £1,200 to replace.

As far as I know there is a full service history, I just need to get the details for it as it's been reserved by myself they take it off the website. Fair, it's not a huge dealership like Lookers or anything. I have checked their reviews and they've been getting a high praise. I myself would rather go to a dealership than a private seller.
