A report outlined how the fly tipper was traced somehow from the original owner of the car.
The original owner sold the car to the fly tipper.... Read more
Vin or chassis number
You might think that, but I don't see any part of a vehicle in the photos which might have a VIN anywhere....
Hi all,
So I bought a second-hand tyre yesterday but only now discovered the issue mentioned in the title. I've read that a small indent going radially in one part of the tyre is okay, but the intent in my tyre is a circle that goes round the whole sidewall.... Read more
A bit late to the party on this one but I'd go with that mark being caused by a broken coil spring rubbing against the (inner) sidewall on whatever it was fitted to before.

Ford has a long history of working for the Germans, making them over 100,000 trucks in the early 1940s.
As did Opel which was owned by GM from 1929 to 2017. I doubt if the factory management had much choice at the time. BMW radial aero engines in WWII used designs licenced from Pratt and Whitney in 1928 and developed from that.
The scrappage scheme appears at first glance to be ok,but where do most people have the other £18k to buy a new one. The most I could scrape together is £6k as I have no intention in buying a 2nd hand or new electric car so it will be petrol for me.
With a petrol I can get to Essex where my daughter lives on half a tank of fuel, with an electric car I would have to stop and charge so making my journey time that much longer and I would not be able to have a full size spare wheel in the boot, which I have at the moment. Read more
If money is burning a hole in your pocket LOOK for cars where there is a new model and look for a deal on the outgoing model.
The outgoing range may have a special edition model, it may be offered with 30%+ off the list price - a lot better than £3,000-£5,000 off. Manufacturers have different attitudes - some want to clear the decks and discount heavily and market the new model - others will try various different policies - deposit incentives, 0%, payment holidays ................. you have to write down the offers and work out which one suits your use & your budget.
e.g Clearance Volvo S60 petrol, 4 door, 250BHP, auto, leather, lots of toys £25K-£27K - about the same a Ford Focus 1.5 Titanium list at about £28K
The Volvo will be a lot more expensive to insure, fuel & service
I am one of the 44 per cent who have experienced no backlog and no problem.
Even before they were due to re-open, the dealership which supplied and has serviced my car from new telephoned to invite me to book the annual service and MoT on the normal due date. Read more
I am not rushing to MOT my car yet. I might feel differently if I had a relatively new car and especially if it were covered by warranty, requiring regular servicing. But my car is 12 years old. And even more importantly, I have not used it since 23 March, and will consider its roadworthiness when I do! I am already paying to insure a car which not being used, so I shall wait to incur any possible costs arising from an MOT.
Remind me not to be driven by anyone in the future exhibiting these 'symptoms'. I mean, people forgetting how to drive in under three months?! Read more
It really got me thinking. It's totally understandable with how routines changed during lockdown. Speaking of which, during that time, I found a great resource over at https://domypaper.com/ who really helped me with my university writing tasks. Their writing service was a lifesaver, ensuring my assignments were quality despite the challenges of lockdown. It's awesome to see resources out there to support us during these uncertain times!
came upon this US video clip on YouTube reviewing a $900 electric 'car' bought on Alibaba!.
Found some more info on the website of the guy who bought it (jalopnik.com/i-ordered-a-brand-new-chinese-900-ev-...7), but a couple of key points. First, the $900 (actually around $930) was just the purchase price. Shipping the 770lb (around 350kg) 'parcel' was another $1784!. But this was to Wilmington North Carolina, it surely would be a fair chunk less to a port on the west coast. Even so, as the guy points out, that still makes it ridiculously cheap, even compared to a golf cart, the one he listed as a comparison was over $9000.
Also, it seems in the US there is a particular category of 'car' this does fit into, and is entirely legal to use. That is 'Low speed neighborhood electric vehicle', whereby applicable vehicles can be used in areas where the speed limit is less than 40mph.
So heres the deal, i am selling my first car it currently has a personalized plate attached to it. I plan to retain the plate which i know incurs an £80 charge but my question is, When i choose to take the plate off my car do i then have to wait for a whole new v5 document or can i simply get the new plates printed immediately and proceed with selling privately? I fear my problem lies with the v5 document as i was hoping to tell rather soonish but i know they can take a while to come through the post should i need one due to the old plates going back on.
Cheers :) Read more
You can do it immediately on line if your vehicle meets the conditions.

Long time since I used pop rivets, but I'm pretty sure they work in blind holes, so I'm not sure I understand your comment, which seems to imply you want/need them to span the box section.
I'd have thought they just need to go through the tube wall, and whatever you are using as a splint....

The road through a new housing estate near me was built with a cycle path separated from the road by a grass verge, yet some selfish people still insist on cycling on the road.
Why do we continue wasting money on a bunch of irresponsible freeloaders?
