Last June a group of scientists led by Professor Richard Herrington, the Natural History Museum’s head of earth science, warned the government that to replace all cars on British roads with EVs, UK demand for the batteries needed would require almost twice the world’s current yearly supply of cobalt, the total amount of neodymium produced globally every year, three-quarters of the world’s annual supply of lithium and at least half its copper supply. No prizes for guessing the effect of this (even if it were feasible) on the prices of these minerals, and therefore the ultimate cost to the consumer. And what about the CO2 emissions generated by this vast excavatory process (chiefly in the Democratic Republic of Congo, home to most of the world’s cobalt reserves)? According to Tim Worstall, a former trader in rare elements: “VW has released the comparative numbers for its new electric Golf against the diesel version. The all-clean, all-climate-friendly version must do 120,000km [75,000 miles]” to break even, “given the emissions required to make the thing.” Read more
I can't decide on a new motor and am current borrowing SWMBO's car (she is not a happy bunny).
My Tucson lease went back and I want something similar but a lot cheaper. ... Read more
Get something with a comfy seat if you will spend 5-6 hours a day in her. Some toys and nice to drive would also be good
Most exit roads from motorways and dual carriageways finish with a roundabout. The slip road usually meets the roundabout at an acute angle rather than 90 degrees, which means that drivers have to twist round in their seats and look over the shoulder to see traffic coming from the right. I have been driving since the mid 1970s and don't remember this being a problem in the past. Is it just me? I was considering one of those wide angle attachments for the door mirror. Read more
I've been fortunate to spot a lorry on the A1 when further back on the approach road. Knowing it will be doing slightly less than 60MPH I've managed to join at a decent speed just in front, although nearly came a cropper when someone was stopped at the end of the approach!
Nearly had another accident there, when I joined from a stop and accelerated hard to match other traffic. A Land Rover in the outside lane decided to take the next exit and, presumably, underestimated my acceleration, pulled left while still alongside!
Subaru wouldn't start for SWMBO earlier, till she remembered about the immobiliser timing out on that car, if you don't turn the ignition on within about 30 secs of unlocking the car, when you do turn the ignition on it won't turn over, you have to press the plipper again with ignition on, then it will start up, ISTR Rovers and Land Rovers having a similar time out system.
She mentioned this and i wondered what would happen if the battery in the plipper went flat, so tried it without plipping, car opened on the manual keylocks fine but alarm went off soon as tried to start the car, nothing to be done about this.... Read more
When I needed a new battery for the remote of a sound system I bought a mixed packet of Duracell button batteries for £1 in B&M.
Or at least I cannot find this week's.
Hope it is just a glitch and not related to that note at the bottom of the web page.... Read more
Ignore the question.

I believe it would have included the entire bottom end, crankshaft and block as I don't think there rebuildable, presumably new piston and liners would have been included?
Chances are they just reused your head, in the old days this would have been known as a short engine.
"In diesel exposure"
Only this morning I posted on another website about the possible problems of continuing to run ICE cars as 2035 approaches, assuming the present proposals come about.
The number of filling stations has been dwindling as long as I can remember. The economics of petrol/diesel sales will get steadily worse as the proportion of EVs grows so as 2035 approaches it may be as difficult to fill up as it is now to charge your EV during a journey. Regardless of whether existing ICE cars are still legal after 2035 by then low or zero emission zones are likely to be the norm for most urban areas in the UK. Hence actually using your ICE car as regular transport may become near to impossible for many or at least incur large daily charges.

The horrid filling quality of today's petrol cans, combined with the necessity of lifting a twenty plus liter container level to the fuel filler cap, are sure to defeat even the brawniest of us. A fifth of the fuel will be spilled on the side of the car and on hands, shirt and trousers.
Most spare petrol containers are only 5 litres, full these will only weigh about 4 kilograms, 8.8 pounds, hardly a strength challenge. ...
Hi,I had a problem with my Focus mk2 1.6l 2010,I started it and the ESP (skidding car) light came on with "reduced acceleration" on the display. So I limped home fearing the worst,I restarted engine and all was back to normal,no lights and normal acceleration. This was 3 days ago.Today I put a OBD2 tester on it and it showed no fault codes or pending codes. One thing I have noticed recently is when I reverse down my sloping cul de sac street, when I brake there is a bit of a grinding noise from the rear wheel (not sure which one yet) but braking in forward makes no noise,I will check the shoes asap but do you think this could be the cause of theESP light coming on? “ Daihatsu may no longer be present in the UK or Europe, but they are still very much alive and kicking. They produced around 1.75 million vehicles last year.”
Correct but it would give them a known brand name for a budget offering in Europe again without damaging the name in other markets. The brand were known for reliability and value, this could be expanded upon.,

GB - Ta for the explanation.
Next time I fill up I'll look to see if the two are adjacent. If they are then that's the answer to my question....
There wasn't.
