To my mind the OP is in part the architect of his own misfortune if he thinks it's OK to drive over speed humps at 20 mph or more. They are there to slow traffic down! I shudder to think what stresses the exhaust and suspension is being subjected to.

It could well be those road humps the OP is traversing are those gently ramped rectangles which are no bother at 20 mph unless you are on concrete springs and elastic band tyres....

Sorry yes I mean wheel. I have no intention to change it. Just wondering what I would expect to come with the vehicle. I'd always have roadside assistance.

The sticker price on new cars is a total irrelevance. Some manufacturers (fewer and fewer now) engage in discounting shenanigans, and the vast majority of new cars are "bought" (more like rented) on PCP or leased by companies. No one will pay 24 grand for a Golf, the same way that no homebuyer will shell out exactly half a million for a new house.

Until the government does more to ensure that electric cars can be charged everywhere (supermarket car parks using solar for example) I can't see how it can be done. Also, a blanket ban will be a problem for people like myself who need to tow livestock and horse trailers, fetch bales of hay an animal feed and the like. This simply cannot be done with an electric vehicle. Am I cynical in thinking it's just another way to make consumers depend on others and pay money for someone to deliver using a large diesel vehicle. It's usually about us paying someone and generating profit. Read more

And when we all have our green little EVs they price of a charge will be the same as filling up with diesel or unleaded - it is already happening in Norway. EVs will not be any cheaper to run tham ICE cars. How else will Boris's boys get the lost fossil fuel revenue?

Sadly millions of people think the Croydon money trees actually exist, and are planning their motoring on recharging their batteries for the price of a pint of (taxed) beer.

You can forgive the younger generation for believing what they are told unquestioningly, not so much the older gen who ought to know better....

My daughter works for an arm of the NHS. As such, from time to time, she has a hire car for work travel arranged through a contract with a large and well known hire company.

She had a car booked from midday on 22 January to undertake a trip to an work site in SW England. For operational reasons the hire company delivered it to her home in NE Wales at around 10pm on the previous day - 21 January. It was left on road outside her house. She remembers being in bed and hearing the rental company guys outside and keys being dropped through her letterbox.... Read more

Had a small knock from the suspension going over bumps, garage couldn't see much wrong which was nice, but replaced the D bushes as they were slightly worn. All fine on the drive home, no knocks, no noise, well pleased.... Read more

I used to love the brand. The entertaining handling, great steering feel, the throaty flat 4 motors, the reliability and most were practical estates or saloons. The Legacy estate was one of my all time favourites ditto the first gen Impreza turbo. Sadly the recent range are ugly and too complex. There’s no soul.

I am suspecting that one of the 2 clutch sets is starting to slip. In Gear 6 I notice the revs surge briefly when I start to climb or come under increased torque loading. I put the vehicle into manual and have booted it in the even gears and notice the apparent slippage. I cant detect any slippage on the odd gears though.

The car only has 47K but I guess you can get wear at pretty any mileage depends on how lucky one is I suppose.... Read more

I think I would be leaving this job to an expert . It’s nothing like a manual gearbox and too much to go wrong if you don’t get it right .

I'm looking to by a 2ltr Diesel auto 3008 around the 2014 - 16 model year as I think these have the fluid flywheel auto as to the EGS auto manual, also I have heard the 2ltr is more reliable than the 1.6.... Read more

I ran a Peugeot 407 with the 2l hdi engine and auto (TC) for 4 years, and never had any problems with engine or gearbox. Found it to be a comfortable quiet reliable car. Only ever seen the garage for normal servicing.
