Hi all, am calling all xtrails enthusiasts and people with xtrail experience and knowledge!! :)
so hoping someone can shed some light on the problem i have with my car..it has an intermittent fault i am trying to sort but no one seems to be able to find it? Nothing showing on diagnostics.
When i drive at around 2000 revs it chugs and cuts out eventually, it will start just losing power and pulling back as though air or fuel isnt getting through then eventually will cut out and have to wait until it will drive again. It will start when the problem is happening but as soon as i go to pull off it will cut out, happened on a junction and freaked me out!
So far it has been serviced, filters sorted, fuel regulator changed, air flow meter changed. It did show up once as a fault with the airflow sensor but whenever i took to the garage it would stop doing it and and drive fine. frustrating! the guy at the garage said could be the injection pump possibly? if anyone does have any ideas what it could be....i would be so grateful if you would reply. many thanks Read more
Hi, I'm looking to buy a used estate for about £15k to £16k and would love some advice. I promise to report back and let you know which I went for and how it turned out.
I am looking at the latest estate versions of the Octavia, Golf, Leon or Cee'd. I also can't decide between petrol or diesel.... Read more
So, I put down a deposit on this today.
Vehicle View - Honda Civic 1.6 i-DTEC SR Tourer 5-Door - Colchester
The price was £14,270 and it's only done just over 11k. It seemed spotless and the wheels were in great condition. It had the cargo and safety pack 1 too. I think it's a pretty good price for an SR with leather seats, very low mileage and all teh extras. I also get the balance of a five year service plan.It was very good drive and has enough room in back for a small to medium rhinoceros.
I don't pick it up until next Saturday - that's a long wait!...
Hi all,
I've just read an article from 2015 by the Telegraphs, Alex Robbins about running the aircon, always, occaisionally, or never. Even after reading the article I'm still in the never camp, as I feel I simply don't need it. My Laureate was bought new in 2013 & the aircon has never been on. But reading this article has put doubt in my mind. ... Read more
Most of the EU rules and regs are beneficial - do you really want to go back to the BSI kite Mark and all the useless carp that they used to certify?
And just as an aside to that - All the Brtitish standard specs for anything had to be purchased ie you couldn't find out about anything unless you bought the standard - all EU standards are available to anybody free....

I can't speak for the newer ones, but the older defenders (pre transit engines) were great. Yes, they did have a few issues, but almost always fixable in the field. The parts supply in most undeveloped countries was pretty unmatched too.

Notorious for these, the fuel filter can in the engine bay goes porous with age, letting air into the fuel system and causing major grief.
