I have two Tiguans both with the 2.0 litre diesel engine. The software upgrade has just been carried out on both and now there is a "pinking" noise from both engines. I have taken the cars back to the dealer and he contacted VW who said "there had been a few isolated problems" and they were working on a fix. This was a month ago and meanwhile I am left with two unsaleable vehicles that sound like a bag of nails. Has anyone else exrperienced an "isolated" problem such as this? Meanwhile my advice would be to not go for the upgrade. Honest John »

Car has developed a clanking nose when changing gear. I have had repair under warranty, garage checked all linkages, could find no problem, but torqued up hub bolts. This resolved the problem for around 3000 miles, but noise has now returned. Car has covered 35000 and just passed MOT with no advisories.

Hi, I looked at the wearables for tracking activity but were either too big on my wrist or too complecated to sync etc so as I take my iphone on all my bike rides / walks, I use the "ibiker" app (there are others) it maps distance covered, callories, and shows route, however if you just want to count steps the iphone etc will do just that, the advantage (or disadvantage) is I am always contactable :-)
Hi all
So my mini went in for a routine tyre change at protyre on Saturday. When the alloy was being removed the air pipe sheered off (with a metal clip still attached) and severely damaged my car - the windscreen is smashed, there is damage to the entire passenger side and roof and the plastic trim on the passenger side has been shattered.
Protyre have been pretty good, they arranged a hire car and have obviously said they will pay for all repairs and costs incurred during the time I'm without my car.
My question is, do I need to inform my insurer? I know it's a non-fault claim but I've read that even this can bump your premiums up when it's time to renew. As it was damage which happened when the car was in the garage rather than an accident involving another vehicle I'm unsure whether I need to report it?
Thanks in advance,
Becca. Read more
Thank you for the advice. I've logged it with my insurers, they said it's notes on the system as 'information' rather than a non-fault.
Would anyone be able to help me and find out the reset code for my stereo? The stereo is a 3000 Traffic and the serial number is M110448.
Anyone who could find out the code or point me in the right direction would be a great help.

Thank you so much.i really appreciate your help

I would have thought if they had the gearbox out they would have checked the clutch/release bearing. Did they actually repair the hole or have they fitted another gearbox? if they did that could account for the whine.
The roughness on the peddle certainly sounds like the release bearing, is the clutch disengaging properly, are you having to push the pedal right to the floor? If it isn't that will make the gearchange notchy, see if it goes in and out of gear more easily without the engine running.
