The recent inconsiderate parking thread prompted me to have a moan about my latest bugbear: inconsiderate car door opening.

This seems to be getting more common around my area (SE England, just outside the M25), and I wondered if others find it a problem or if I'm just getting increasingly grumpy with age.... Read more

That's why I tend to park at angles now to make other users keep their Freakin distance.

Isn't that inconsiderate parking?

All,
So found the problem basically when the aux stretch belt was fitted (not buy me!!) the engine had been rocked back and forth to fit aux belt, this has resulted in the exhaust cam jumping two teeth thus sending exhaust gas back in to inlet manifold causing engine to cut out.

Replaced a very worn timing chain and tensioner and refitted all that the garage removed and it now runs like a dream,

Thanks for your help

Railroad.

17 miles is hardly s long journey, and even assuming he did do that every day half of that mileage would be the engine warming up, during which time no DPF regeneration either passive or active would take place. Passive regeneration would occur when the engine is at normal operating temperature and the exhaust is sufficiently hot enough to allow it to happen. This is best achieved at constant speeds of typically 50mph and above. Active regenerations occur when the ECM decides the conditions are correct to do so, and town driving does not meet those conditions. Short local journeys are not good for DPFs.

Hello, can anyone give advice about removal of Prado v6 petrol auto, starter motor, does the exhaust manifold have to be removed to gain access to the top bolt or is there a special Toyota tool? thanks, Mike. Read more

I have now had the venga for 6 months and done just over 4000 miles.

Far more comfortable than the Rio 2 that preceded it. Feels good on the road, fast enough for me. Will "push" if using gears and accelerator, but no longer my style of driving... reversing sensors useful too!... Read more

There is no way the Prius' boot is only 343 litres. Maybe the ones with the spare wheel. It's much larger than my recent Golf's, whcih is rated at 380l.

Could someone measure the height under the boot cover on theirs ? I'm really curious. Read more

The best discount I have obtained so far on a T4 SE Nav (with leather) is £7000 bringing to price down to £21538 but they don't do the Business Edition models. At a different broker the T4 SE Nav is just under £23000 but they also do the T4 Business Edition but the discount is lower at c £4500 bringing the price down to to c £18700.

So I can supposedly get a Business Edition for approx £2800 less than the SE Nav which to me looks like way better value. I don't want leather and the Business model also comes with sensible 16" wheels. The only item it lacks which I would like (and its not even an option) is darkened rear glass but that is not the end of the world. Will have to make a mental note about the foot rest....

We have some white lines in front of our driveway entry and the 3 Garage entries that are at90 degrees to us (on the end of a close)

We need constant access for swmbo for when she is "on call" and the furthest away now uses her parking space, so stopping one of the main offenders from parking his lwb van on the whitelines/pavement at that point.... Read more
